The sweet smell of the morning dew was my only comfort as I was forced to walk to this ' outpost '. My hands tied behind my back, and apes surrounds me with their spears at the ready. The ape that fought me was walking ahead, leading the rest, with another at his side an almost hairless one. Stepping over the fallen trees and their smaller counterparts, does tend to get tiering after 5 hours. Finally we stopped, at this, fort of some sorts. Logs with sharpened tips made up the front wall of it, apes of all kinds stopped to watch us walk in. They stared as if they had never seen a human before, I can see horses tied to a tree not far away. Already planning my escape.
Once we made it inside, the 'main' part of the fortress, the ape that lead the group turned back. Our eyes locked once more, looking into his eyes I seemed to recognize more detail then I did last time. Even though he was further way I could see that his eyes had the colour green like fresh asparagus tips, flecked with the colour of nutmeg. It would be stunning if I weren't in this situation. He began to do some hand movements that I assumed were sign language, making the other apes in the room leave apart from the almost hairless one.
We all stood there, like some big Mexican stand off. "What is your name?" Said the one with the green eyes.
"What's yours?" I say back with snark, hands twisting in their rope prison.
His eyes squinted at me, watching as his hands clenched into fists. " Caesar." He said after a few moments. "Nice to meet you Caesar, I'm Krista" I said, in mock politeness. He snorts Dismissively. With a wave of his hand, he sends the last ape in the room away. Now we are alone with one another, for reasons unknown.
"How long have you been here?" He asked me, while walking around me in a circle.
Following him with my head, " why?" I reply. "Just answer the question" he snarls, coming to a stop in front of me. I swallow the lump of saliva that swells in my mouth. " 5 years, give or take some" I say, watching him closely. He stares at me like he is trying to work out some complex puzzle. "Is there anyone else here with you?" He questions, taking a step closer to me.
"Like I would even answer that" I say skeptically, wanting to take a step way from his glare.
"This weighs on your fate so answer honestly." He says like my life means nothing.
" o-only me" I say defeated, hands tightening in the rope. " it's just me." I repeat, thinking of my brother briefly. His face softens, chest almost touching mine. Looking like I felt, heartbroken. We stare each other down, so close, yet, not at all. " I'm....I'm sorry" he says softy. I tilting my head down, trying desperately to blink away the tears in my eyes before he can see them.
"Rocket!" He shouts, almost making me jump.
The almost hairless ape walks in, looking confused. "Take her to the cage" he says, before waking off without looking at me again.• CAESAR'S POV •
I know that look, it's the look I carried for sometime. I rub my hand down my face with a sigh, 'what do I do?' I thought. I can't let her go, she may come back to the base. I can't kill her, it goes against everything I am. What do I do. What do I do?...
Taking the horses, rocket and I ride back home. It wasn't too dark by the time we got there, seeing as how we left at mid day. Walking into my home, seeing my children in our nest. Blue eyes curled around Cornelius , feeling some of the stress that had build up inside of be melt at the sight of them. Deeply inhaling before exhaling just as heavy, i walk to the nest and take a spot. Falling into a restless slumber for the night. Thinking of the strange human.
