NEWT
A breeze, cool and crisp, ran through Newt's freshly showered wet hair as he walked stiffly across the deck of the ship. There was only one day of the voyage left, which was good. He was ready to see the others, and know if the law was passed. This particular ship didn't have American newspapers, so he hadn't heard a thing.
Newt sat on a bench, wincing as his burns stretched uncomfortably. He rested, enjoying the cold air blowing across his back and through the bandages, when an owl landed beside him. He took the letter and fed it a treat while he read Tina's letter.
Dear Newt,
Are you all right? Did you round the dragon up okay? The way your last letter ended worries me.
As for the presentation, the law was passed today. I expect Queenie's restoring Jacob's memory as I write this.
Anyway, just checking up on you.
Love,
Tina Goldstein.
Newt's heart sank, at first, but then it rose as he read about the law being passed. He understood what happened immediately; on the back of the Quick-Quotes Quill box it had warned that it may pick up any words said write them down, even after the writing is finished. You had to deactivate it by blowing on the tip.
"Hang in there, little guy," Newt said. He opened his case and summoned a piece of paper, an envelope, and a normal quill.
     Dear Tina,
I am most certainly fine, and so is the dragon. She landed safely, and there was only one person injured, me. Only some minor burns, nothing to worry about; I was afraid it would have been much worse, but I'll be fine. They nurses gave me a special burn potion that they use, and by the fourth application there should be no signs of the burns at all.
I am most excited that the law was passed; congratulations! Tell Queenie I'm happy for her; Jacob as well, if his memories are restored.
Looking forward to seeing all of you,
Love,
Newt Scamander.
"There," he said as he secured the letter to the owl's ankle. He watched as it flew away in the direction of the upcoming continent.

TINA
Tina smiled at Jacob and Queenie as they walked into the apartment, but Queenie read her mind immediately.
"He'll be fine, I know it," Queenie said to her. "How many years did he work with dragons?"
"I know, I know," Tina groaned. "But that doesn't mean-" she was interrupted by a sharp rapping on the window. Jacob opened the window and let the owl in.
"That's what you're supposed to do, right?" He said.
Queenie beamed like a proud mother. "Yes, and then you take the letter of his leg."
"Here," he said, untying the envelope and passing it to an eager Tina. "Who's it from?"
"Newt," she sighed in relief, reading the letter out loud.
"Aw, that's sweet!" Queenie said. "We can't wait to see him either."
"I know I can't," Jacob smiled, happier than he'd been since the bakery opened.
"I'm sure the burns are fine," Tina sighed, rubbing her eyes. "I'll look at them when he gets here. He never said when, so I'm assumimg he left yesterday and it'll be a few days."
"Probably," Queenie said, laying a paper bag on the table. "All right, now that we've established that Newt's okay, I'll throw together some dinner!"
"Queenie, we got the stew," Tina reminded her, taking her shoes off and rubbing her feet."I bought a loaf of bread at some bakery on my way home." She glanced apologetically at Jacob. "Sorry it wasn't yours, Jacob."
"No big deal," Jacob said. "I make a pretty decent living at this point. I'm moving out of  my apartment as soon as I can."
"I wish you could move here," Queenie said wistfully. "But Mrs. Espocito has her rules. Sneakin' you and Newt in here for a visit is one thing; if you came to live here, she'd notice."
"Yeah, but that's all right," Jacob smiled. "I can move somewhere closer. Somewhere with a lot more room than what I have."
The dinner went on with many laughs, and when Queenie took Jacob home, Tina collapsed onto her bed, exhausted, and fell asleep at once.
Morning dawned, and since it was Sunday, Tina stayed in bed as long as possible. Then, there was a knock at the door. She scrambled to her feet, knowing that Queenie was still asleep, and went to answer the door as she pulled on a robe.
She pulled the door open with a slight creak, and standing there was-

Newt Scamander. He stood tall and lean, proper and clean, smiling the widest grin she'd ever seen him smile. When she threw her arms around him, he winced and jumped backward.
"Burns!" He said in a strangled tone.
"Oh, sorry!" Tina released him, mortified. "Are you okay?"
"I will be," he smiled weakly. "Hello, Tina."
"Hello, Newt," she said. "Come in, come in, before Mrs. Espocito hears you! Make yourself comfortable."
