- THOMAS'S POV -
I was nervous to say the least. But, I'm excited, too. Today is June 20th, and I'm marrying the love of my life in 10 minutes.
I'm standing at the pew, wearing a custom made suit from Hercules. Alex and I decided to go with a more sleek theme for the ceremony, so we're both in white suits with our "signature color" in ties. Fidgeting once more with the tie, I take a deep breath and check the clock. 5 minutes until it all started. Until George Washington walked my Alexander down the aisle and we became wed.
I'm going to be George Washingtons son-in-law. I think. A little scary, but I'm used to him. He likes me and I respect him and we get along. I look over at the crowd, and behind me at our group. It's a small ceremony and reception, just our close friends and family. I glance at James Madison, my best man, and John Laurens who is Alex's. I see our bridesmaids and groomsmen. Maria and the Schuyler sisters are our bridesmaids, and Herc, Laf, James H, and John Church are the groomsmen. Little Jasmine is our flower girl, and Eliza is going to carry Philip so he can be the ring bearer. We wanted to include him, so Eliza came up with the idea.
Absorbed in my thoughts, I almost don't hear the organ begin to play a sweet, slow song. I look up and see people we know from college, high school, our families (or what's left of them, in Alexanders case) and others we invited.
And then I see him.
My God. His face looks different. And I know exactly why. He's smiling. Truly, really smiling. His eyes are bright and full of life, even brighter than our double proposal during his valedictorian speech last year. I feel happy tears brim my eyes. He's finally happy. Not fully, but for now he is, and I'm totally ok with that. I look at the rest of him, lingering in the ways his suit makes him look, hugging his small figure, which thankfully didn't nearly as tiny as it was back in college.
He slowly walks up to me and I take his hands, and he squeezes them tightly. He glances at our friends and beams brighter, and that's when I lose it. I'm full on crying now, tears streaming down my smiling face. Alex looks back at me and wipes away my tears with his thumb, and I gather myself. We stare at each other with love in our eyes as the pastor talks. Eventually, it's time for vows. I go first.
"Alexander Hamilton. When I hear your name, when I see your face, when you kiss me, my day improves infinitely. You are the most amazing man this world could ever have, and I would do anything for you. You're my SoulMate, but you're so much more than that. You're my best friend, the other father of our beautiful baby boy, my old college roommate, my high school crush, my person who will make me food and binge watch movies with me when I'm sick, and endless other things. I know we've been through some hard times-" my voice breaks a little and I look up to see him smiling at me sadly, knowing exactly what I'm talking about. All our friends are silently sobbing, because they know as well. I take a breath and continue,
"We've been through some hard times, but I know we can get through them just like we have these past 5 years. I love you so much. Never forget that. No matter what, I will love you forever and always, Alexander." I finish and there is a small applause. Alex squeezes my hand, and I want to kiss him so bad. But he still has to recite his vows. He pulls a little folded piece of paper from his jacket and beams.
"Ok. I don't know how to top that, to be honest." He begins, laughing. I hear laughter from a a few other people.
"This beautiful, fantastic, amazing, man has saved my life more than once. I'm not kidding. There have been many a time where I think, "wouldn't it be easier to just stop living and let everyone else be happy?" But I remember my Thomas. My Thomas, who will love me on my worst days. Who kisses my scars to remind me it's in the past. Who buys me the crappiest food when I'm anxious. Needless to say, he cares so much about everyone's wellbeing, and I'm so happy I can care about his as well. I love you so, so much. If you guys know me, which I hope you do, since you're at my wedding," laughter fills the room.
