Chapter 9
Nearly a dozen people gathered around in the formal dining room in the far end of the Wilder house hold. This was the only place in the house that could accommodate the number of people that needed to be in this meeting. Jack, Tatiana, Samuel, and Gabby sat on one end, while the rest of the adults spread out throughout the rest of the table without care to where they would be sitting. Soon though, Jack will realize the irony of the circular table that sits before him and how much the people around the table will effect his life.
Maverick Creed cleared his throat signaling the beginning of the meeting, “Tiberius, your the boys godfather, the responsibility to educate the Wilder line falls to you. Do you accept the task in assisting and potentially training the next Lord Wilder?”
Jack and Tiberius locked eyes for a few moments before responding, “It is what Charlie would have wanted. I accept this task and challenge.”
Jack then asked, “Will I be allowed to ask questions at the end, would you like me to ask questions as we go through, how do we want to do this?”
Tiberius shook his head, “Please it is imperative you understand all of this, ask questions as we go. I will start from the beginning, I know you have a solid memory, but if you would like to take notes you may.”
Jack shook his head. The oldest Wilder held the utmost confidence in his memory, it was near eidetic, but not quite that perfect. Tiberius then nodded, “The first thing I should explain is magic. In a question of what is it, its a blessing. Over a thousand years ago the first powerful Wizard was born into the world, Merlin himself. However Druids had been practicing forms of necromancy and basic Wiccan magic since the dawn of time, and some of them supposedly would rise to be weaker Warlocks and Witches, but history can't confirm that. Druid Necromancy was never truly dark magic, quite the opposite actually it was the purest type of magic back then. However when the Pendragons rose to power in the times of British Camelot the druids were nearly wiped out, they survived on nearly one remaining follower that would lead their empire.”
Jack had heard these stories before, his father loved the story of Camelot, but suddenly he felt there was definitely a hidden message in the reasons why his dad told him these stories so many times, “The last druid was Mordred. Dad has told me these stories before, he was very fond of them.”
Sammy grinned, “Sadly he was forbidden from telling you the good parts.”
Jack looked at Sammy questioningly while Tiberius continued, “In the battle of Camlann or the final showdown between Arthur and Mordred, Arthur truly did not die. You see over the years Arthur and Merlin developed a tight packed relationship in a very unlikely way. After the battle was over Merlin would carry Arthur to Avalon where the spirits would forgive his sins and spirit and give him the strength to survive. Now while Uther Pendragon, the great Merlin was disgusted with, Merlin saw Arthur as the future of all good things in Camelot. This did not sit well with the two great sorcerers of the time, Morgan Le Fey also known as Morgana, would go on to hunt the knights of Camelot, at least the ones she could find. While the other Mordred would be the first purely evil sorcerer in our world. Let me explain, when a sorcerer turns evil the dark magic inside them corrupts their soul, the dark magic takes hold on all things good and destroys all the good in you until there is nothing left but death and chaos. They then become Necromancers. True dark magic breeders. Now some Warlocks practice the ways of dark magic, believing that it holds the future to Utopian societies. These are the people that Necromancers bring in to form their darkest forces. In the past there have been periods of times where dark magic could be so prominent that the society is completely divided by dark powers. These are times of war, your great grandfather led some of our fathers in Germany against the dark forces that were controlling the mind of one Adolf Hitler. All hope is not lost in these times, there are uncorrupted Warlocks, witches, wizards, and sorcerers who attempt to combat dark magic as it is illegal in our society, but not where it should be which is in our government.”
