Chapter 16

A gathering of extraordinary people can potentially bring about phenomenal changes.  That was what Jack felt he had on his hands tonight.  Earlier they had discovered in the basement a business room that was in the shape of a round table.  Jack knew this wasn’t by accident.  His ancestors once gathered at a round table for meetings that would change the course of human history, now it was his turn.  He looked out to the familiar faces and the new faces as well.  The Lord of the Wilder clan felt that he had a great gathering of people.  Sitting at the pedestal of the table was Jack himself, and to his left was his betroth, the future Lady Wilder, Gabriela Fletcher.  Her single purple eye never left Jack to show that he had her undivided attention and she wasn’t the only one.  Lord Samuel Sparrow was to Jack’s right, which Jack found symbolic because the simple fact was, growing up Samuel had always been his right hand man.  To Gabriela’s right Lord Patrick Alexander Lionheart, for the sole reason that he was the next highest rank person in the room.  To the right of the legacy of Lionhearts’ there was Lady Rosy Montrez, who held the most seniority as a Lady in the entire government.  At only nineteen years old, she was the lone remaining scion of the Montrez line.  To the left of Samuel that there was two girls Jack had yet to meet, but both were apparently ladies of the government, both were of neutral backgrounds, instead of purely light.  To the right of Lady Montrez there was a young man who kept snapping his fingers and creating small burst of flames, he had yet to meet this young man, but he couldn’t have been more than twenty. Jack was refraining from calling him out as he kept staring down Gabriela and Tatiana.  Then to complete the group there were the future Lord Creed and Lady Pernelle.  Nine people made up this round table, with four empty seats remaining to be filled.

Jack stood from his seat clearing his voice to speak, “Good morning Lord and Ladies of the official US Magical Government.  I want to first thank everyone for coming out tonight to speak about a problem, but first I am unfamiliar with three new members of this rooms, would you please introduce yourselves to me and please tell me a bit about yourselves and your abilities.”

The girl closest to Samuel stood up, she had a dark brown eye to closely compare to the solid black eye she had on her left.  She was unnaturally short, with an evenly proportioned body that made her look like a younger teenage girl.  The look on her face however spoke the years she had lived; Jack knew this girl was a warrior.  She reached out for the water glasses Gabriela had laid out and withdrew the water of all of them with a flick of her wrist, “My name Is Larissa Ira Truman, water mage, I reached my magical maturity at sixteen.  I was the youngest to reach my majority than anyone in the past one hundred years.  My power is very controlled, but not the strongest.  My basic magical attack is all speed and no power, but I have been taught some rather deadly jinxes to fight with.  I have been in combat once in the fight for my home.  The dark magician you fought with killed my family; I managed to create a portal with the help of my servant.  He came in a lone, and wiped out a home of fifteen people.  My father was a very strong Warlock and my mother a shadow mage that had mass control over the dark, but even with them and the eight servants that attempted to take him down, his shields were so powerful, we didn’t even managed to dent him.  When Rosy told me that there was a group forming to take down the dark faction’s newest ace, I was in from the moment the conversation started.  My family was a neutral or as the light like to call us, grey families.  The night my family was killed we voted for a big legislation that went to the light faction, the dark faction called us all traitors and vowed our destruction; they certainly didn’t waste any time.  My legacy now is to screw over the dark faction as much as possible.”

Samuel slapped his hand on the table, “Here, here!  We are going to get a long marvelously!”

I grinned at Samuel as he winked at the new girl.  I motioned for the girl next to Larissa to go next and she stood shyly.  This girl was a dark Latina as she stood up I noticed she strangely enough had two shades of blue eyes and dark black hair.  Jack had never seen a darker girl with such bright eyes; they were actually rather attractive in the Oldest Wilders opinion, “Victoria Alexis Nesterborn, at your service.  Let’s see to tell you a bit about myself I am eighteen years of age, recently inducted into the government as Lady Nesterborn, or as everyone call us the Nesters.  We were a dark family during the times of Camelot, we mostly have hung in the neutral sides of things in modern times, however now that it’s just my siblings and I, and we have swung towards the light.  My grandfather was killed by the last dark magician for disobeying orders; my father was slaughtered by a group of necromancers after a government conference.  We were on our own for about three years, thankfully there is three of us, and none of us are all together at any point, in order to maintain the family line.  My brother is the youngest sibling so it will still be another four years before he can take lord ship.  In that time the light has gained a vote for now.  I have stood with the Truman family for nearly my entire life, both of our families have been robbed blind by the dark faction, I am prepared to see justice, no matter who it comes from. My power is in great magical ability and potential, but I have yet to receive the proper training of control and execution I would like. However I am seeking leadership, I am praying for the one that will lead us through the struggling times.”
