"You'll make it through tonight Cassadee." She assured me quickly as she turned to leave.
"What..." I felt intimidated, there was something different about this girl that made me feel uncomfortable.
"Violet." I looked up as I heard Tate's voice.
"Tate." She seemed disgusted, squeezing her way out of the door frame beside him and disappearing into the hallway. "Cassy..." He sat next to me on the bed and laid his hand on my shoulder but I moved away. He was silent for a few moments. "Why is there a girl in my house?" My eyes shot up to his. "Do you know her? Can you get her to leave? Like.. What the hell." He grabbed my wrist as I stood, pulling me back down. My eyes widened "You're hiding something." I quickly got a hold of his hand which was gripping me and removed it. "What the fuck is going on?" He didn't answer and began to tear up. Standing to go find the girl anger I felt him reach for my hand, "Tate, stop!"
"She's dangerous Cassadee, Jesus, she'll leave on her own."
I felt as if I wanted to grab a wad of hair and pull it out, "Stop doing that, can you just tell me what is happening?"
I was interrupted by my mother brashly slurring words and laughing, assuming it was downstairs from the loud echoes. I heard a man's voice and jumped straight up from Tate's grasp. Tate got startled by my jump and woke up also. I heard the man laugh. "Who was that? I thought you didn't have a dad" He looked at me in confusion. "I don't" I said slowly; whispering. He immediately stood up. "Stay here" I murmured. "Hell no! I'm not letting you go alone" He attempted to be as quiet as possible. I got up, tip-toed over to my door, and turned the door knob gently. I hushed him, "Stay here Tate" "Cassadee." "Stay here, please." He gave me a concerned look but I ignored it and I walked out of the room and quietly walked down the stairs.
"Oh, you're so funny Robert." My mother slurred
I covered my mouth and felt tears build up in my eyes. My throat was tight and my knees were weak. I didn't even care about the girl anymore, now all I was afraid of was my own life. I discreetly ran up the stairs and back into my room. Tate stood across the room and hurried over to me. He held me close and looked into my eyes, "What happened?" "Ro-Robert. No..." I stuttered; trembling. "Who is he Cassadee? Who's Robert?"
I ran into my room, slammed the door, and locked it. Crying uncontrollably. "Cass, baby. Come out". I searched for a way out of my room. The only way was the window but he would've got in by the time I was able to break the glass. "Go away! Please!" He roughly bashed the door with all of his strength. He broke the hinges of the door, bolted in, and quickly walked over to me; pushing me onto the bed, nailing me onto the mattress. I cried and screamed; hoping someone would hear me. I kicked him in the privates and attempted to push him over. He blew a hit to my cheek. I reached over to the miniature lamp that sat on my nightstand and smashed it onto his head as it shattered to pieces in my hand. He dropped to the floor, I got up and ran straight out of the room, down the hall, and out of the house.
"He's my mom's ex boyfriend" he looked at me, puzzled "Why are you so upset then?" He held me tighter.
"He raped me"
