I was grabbing my books for the second half of my day when Jeff came over to lean against my locker. I looked at him and smiled softly. He chuckled as I closed my locker.
"Did you need something, Jeff?" I asked him. Jeff and I were friends but didn't talk a lot. He chuckled some with a nod.
"Meet me at the baseball field after school." Jeff said before he rushed off to class when the bell rang. I giggled to myself as I walked into class.
Once school was over, I went to my locker to grab the books and notebooks for the classes I had homework in. I shoved everything into my backpack before heading out the door and walking towards the baseball field. There, I saw Jeff throwing a ball back and forth with one of his teammates.
"Hey, Jeff! What is it you needed me for?" I said as I walked towards the field. The guy he was throwing with handed Jeff three balls before walking away.
"I have an extra mitt in my bag over on the bench. Come on, lets throw the ball for a bit." Jeff smiled as I went over to his bag. It wasn't too hard to find since It said 'J. Atkins' on it. I grabbed the extra mitt out of it before jogging out towards him.
"Please go easy on me. I haven't thrown a ball in a few years." I laughed softly. Jeff chuckled as we began to throw a ball back and forth. I dropped the ball a few times but overall was catching the ball very well.
"Didn't you play softball freshman year?" Jeff asked. I nodded some with a smile.
"I did but I got hurt during our last game and didn't try out the following year. I feel like shit for not trying out again. I was their best second baseman." I said with a laugh. Jeff nodded as he threw the three balls by his feet at me one after another. I caught them all and quickly dropped the last one before catching the next.
"Look at the balls, (Y/N)." Jeff said with a smile. I gave him a look as I looked over each. I smiled brightly as I noticed that he was asking me to winter formal. I smiled up at him with a quick nod.
"I will go to winter formal with you, Jeff! Oh my God." I rushed over to Jeff and hugged him. He wrapped his arms tightly around my waist as the boys on the baseball team began to clap and cheer for Jeff.

I looked myself over in my mirror one last time. Honestly, I looked great! I talked to Jeff all of the last week about what I was wearing so he could color match with me if he wanted. I heard a knock at the front door as I walked down the stairs. As I got to the bottom, Jeff was standing there with both of my parents smiling at me.
"You look beautiful, (Y/N)." Jeff said. I could feel my cheeks turn red as I just nodded. My parents took a few pictures before Jeff drove us off to the school. When we got to the school, Jeff instantly found Clay and we all began to talk.
