The Return Of Scourge

Chapter 2

Over the hoard of bristling fur and startled meows, Scourge could make out the outline of an angry Firestar heading his way.

When Firestar was face to face with Scourge he meowed in a very cold tone, "What are you doing here, Scourge?".

Firestar is nothing more than a kittypet Scourge kill him you idiot! he is free bait! Tigerstars voice hissed loudly in Scourge's head

shut up Tigerstar. You do realise that i'm a kittypet too right? Scourge thought angrily. Whatever why are you turning so soft anyways? Scourge ignored the constant meows of Tigerstar and focused his gaze on Firestar.

"I am not here to harm your clan, Firestar" he started "All i want is to join you, I want to become a better cat, and be happy" Firestar sat there for a moment, letting his thoughts wash around in his head, his tail flicking nervously.

"I will discuss these matters with my deputy and tell you my answer tommorow at moonhigh" Firestar meowed finally after what seemed like an eternity.

Scourge nodded his head and looked around at the distrusting and disgusted faces of the clancats, Scourge realised that this was not his clan anymore and dipped his head respectfully.

"Then where will i sleep for now?" he asked, "you will sleep in the fallen oak" Firestar flicked his tail to the moss lined bed beneath a fallen tree.

Scourge nodded and walked to the den, careful not to tread on someones tail on accident. When he reached the tree, he layed down on the soft moss and closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

The next morning Scourge was rudely awoked by being slapped in the face with a tail.

"Aye! watch it" He hissed, shaking his head.

"Whatever Firestar ordered me to take you out hunting and to teach you about the warrior code" a tom with grey fur and darker stripes along his back poked his head inside the den.

"Have you ever heard about personal space?" Scourge asked and he walked out of the den and looked around.

"Firestar told me to teach you the warrior code" the grey tom repeated "now follow me and onto be a mouse-brain"

Scourge huffed and trotted after the tom. "Whats your name?" he asked as politely as he could.

"Greystripe. wow who knew a murderous cats from twoleg place could be so kind?" Greystripe teased.

Scourge's tail puffed out "I want to change!" he hissed "I want to be a cat that everyone looks up to!. A cat that everyone comes to appreciate!"

Fool!, like anycat would look up to you. You are the cat that devastated the whole forest. And what does that make you? ... Scourge shook his head and followed Greystripe out of the bramble entrance.

Once they were out Greystripe turned around to face Scourge, "Scourge. because you are part of the clan now. You will need to hunt for the clan before you can take prey for yourself." Greystripe explained "smell the air. what do you smell?"

Scourge lifted his head and opened his mouth, "I smell food?" he tried, Greystripe chuckled "thats actually mouse. but you will get there eventually" he said.

Greystripe nudged Scourge forward, "Show me how you hunt" he whispered, Scourge nodded and crouched down, he stalked forwards, pawstep after pawstep, Scourge launched at the mouse and flicked it upwards into the sky before killing it.

"Not bad for a cat who scavenges food near twoleg dens!" Greystripe praised. Scourge lifted his head proudly and padded over to Greystripe.

"Do i drop this off in the fresh-kill pile or continue hunting?" Scourge asks.

"We will hunt for a few more mice and birds. while we do that im gonna teach you more about the warrior code and Starclan" Greystripe continued to walked further into the forest while talking to Scourge.

"-so the warrior code was made to keep the peace within the clans" Greystripe finished.

"Ok, now tell me about Starclan" Scourge asked, just as excited as a new-born kit.

"Alright, Starclan is a clan of warriors that had passed on from this life." Greystripe started, Scourge nodded, signalling him to continue, "have you ever seen the thick band of stars at night while you were in twoleg place?"

"Yeah, sometimes" Scourge said, not getting the point of the question as a whole.

"Well, that is Starclan. They watch over all the clans and make sure the ancient rituals of time would not be broken" Greystripe finished.

"I see..." Scourge stared off into space for a moment "are there anymore rules of the warrior code?"

"Yes one more. You shall not betray your leader or clan you must stay loyal to them" Greystripe said thoughtfully.

There was a rustle in the bushes
SCOURGE LOOK OUT! Tigerstar's voice boomed through the little cats head, Scourge quickly pushed Greystripe out of the way and took a slash across his midsection. One word came to mind.
