Darkness all around
Can't hear a single sound
Past the noise of breaking glass
A marriage that cannot last
A knock at the door
Knowing there is more
Close your eyes, pretend to sleep
Hold your breath, don't make peep
Opening the door, light begins to leak
Each footstep a dreaded creak
Heart pounding in your chest
Knowing silence would be best
You lay still in your bed
Keeping thoughts in your head
You will it away
Knowing it'll just stay
A voice that sounds like Satan
Alcoholic stench, he's drunk again
The pressure on the mattress
Eyes wide open, feeling helpless
The sound of a zipper
Mother unconscious, must've hit her
Fear grips your heart
You're only inches apart
He towers over your body
"Hey baby, it's Daddy."
