~Kayla~
Sam and I walked into the child services department and Ryan was on Sam's shoulders.
"Hi we're here to see Leah Kraken." I told the man at the front desk.
He stood up leading us to the hallway and into an empty office.
"She will be in here shortly." He said giving a soft smile then leaving the room.
Sam let Ryan off his shoulders and he just ran around the room.
The door slightly opened and Leah came in.
"Hello Ms. Tristan." Leah said shaking my hand. "Mr. Wilkinson."
She sat down at her desk immediately logging into her computer and printing a stack of papers.
She handed the stack to me and Sam and we read through all the papers sighing all of them.
Around 2 and a half hours later, Leah stacked the paper into a nice, neat stack and put them in a folder.
"Okay so we have some good news and some bad news." Leah said folding her hands together.
"Good news first." Sam answered.
"Good news is you two are both now the legal guardians of Ryan Tristan-Lawson." She said pausing and me and Sam's smiled at eachother. "Bad news is we have to keep Ryan in foster care until you guys get the real documents in the mail."
I froze for a minute. "How long is that gonna take?" Sam asked for me.
"At the most a week and a half."
"No!" I said shaking my head. "He's 2, he's not just gonna get thrown into some random ass home with people he doesn't know!" I say this time a little bit louder.
Sam placed his hand on my thigh calming me down a bit.
"I know it's not something any guardian would enjoy but it has to be done." She says and I just cross my arms not saying a word.
~Sam~
"Thank you Ms. Kraken." I say as I close the door. We handed Ryan off to her and Kayla hasn't said a word since then. I know she's mad and she doesn't want Ryan to go to foster care. Trust me I don't want her going either but there was no possible way we could have gotten him out of that situation.
We got home and Kayla didn't say a word just walked into the house and upstairs into the bedroom.
I went to the kitchen and got a beer from the fridge.
Yes, I drink when I'm stressed big deal.
I popped off the cap onto the counter and went upstairs.
I found Kayla laying down with her back towards me.
I set the bottle onto the nightstand then sat down on the bed and flipping Kayla so her head was in my lap.
"Babe you can't just sit here for the next week and a half." I said lightly stroking her hair.
She sighed. "I know. It's just so many things could go wrong. He just got placed with a random family. What if he likes them better than us and decides to stay with them?" She questioned.
"He's not. Now come on why don't we do something productive." I said trying to get her up.
"Like what-"
Her phone rung on the nightstand.
-Kayla-
"Hello?"
"Hi is this Kayla Tristan?"
"Yes."
"Hi this is the bank. We were wondering where we should place Josh's Lawson's money."
"We get his money?"
"Yes. Since he passed the money goes to your sister. And since she passed too the money goes to you."
"Oh, well how much is it?" I ask.
"Well there are 3 accounts opened all containing a lot of money."
"Well what are the 3 accounts?"
"Well the first one is named Ryan's college fund, and it has over 6million in it but it has been closed off so no money can be put into it anymore."
My eyes widened. "Wow."
"The second account is named Ryan's trust fund containing around 6.5million. And the 3rd one is just a normal account containg more than the other 2 accounts combined."
"Oh wow. Um just transfer the last one to my account but don't open the other 2." I said.
"Okay thank you." She said before hanging up.
I quickly clicked the bank app on my phone and watching my bank account number going higher and higher.
I shoved my phone at Sam and his eyes widened. We both watched till the number stopped.
