I might be able to go back home for New Year, Kousei. I want to spend time along with my son. I already miss you a lot. I also miss you so much, dad.
Kousei woke up suddenly after a series of knock.
He stood up and went out of his piano room where he collapsed after he played excitedly every day. His father is going home! He misses his father so much.
It had been the last three months since they have met.
His father, Arima Takahiko have told him that he was stationed in a factory in Okinawa, Japan. He doesn't watch television that much and so, he didn't know that there had been a huge earthquake at the prefecture where his father was working.
The last time they talked was a week ago where his father promised him that they will go and watch the fireworks display. He looked at the date and read December 31.
He was so excited to open the door, thinking it was already his father but after he opened it, he was met by three strangers wearing black suits. He began feeling uneasy seeing the three of them who looked at him with strange pity.
There were two females and one middle-aged male who is taller than him. They're holding a brown envelope, also.
"Who are you?" he asked them. "Why are you here?"
"Are you Mr. Arima Kousei, Arima Takahiko's son? I'm Agent Nagachika Junichi from National Police Agency," Junichi told him.
Why would the National Police Agency go to him? Did his father do something?
"Yes, I'm Kousei, sir," he replied at them. "What do you want from my father? He's not here."
"We know that your father isn't at home. This might be tough for you," he answered him as he gives him the brown envelope. He opened it up and after he read the file of his father, he was shocked to see something he never expected: Deceased.
His father died due to blood loss in an earthquake that struck the factory where his father works.
"This is a joke, right? My father promised me he will go home today!" he shouted in despair. "He told me that we will watch the fireworks!!!! Please... no... This isn't real!"
The agent pitifully hugged him as they saw that Kousei had already been crying so hard. After they helped him calm down, they went inside his house and gave him water on the couch downstairs. They have also observed that he has an altar of his mother inside that easily shows that after his father passed away, he was officially an orphan child and must be taken to an orphanage where there will be people who can take care of him. They have also learned through some background checked on Takahiko that his son was only a minor. The women that came along with Agent Junichi are agents of a private orphanage in their village.
