Nineteen: Kousei's Confession

Weeks after Kousei and Emi Igawa's competition, both became so close to each other that Aiza Takeshi felt left out already. He's eating spaghetti in the cafeteria together with Emi at that time while he is still practicing piano with their music instructor at their room.

Kousei doesn't just have normal music lessons like the other piano majors as he does have music therapy at school.

"Both of you seemed so close to each other already," Takeshi told them.

Emi blushed. "Are we? Kousei is recovering from all the trauma he received. He began talking about Miyazono Kaori and how he felt happy that I played with him. He told me that he's happy that he could rely on me. We will be in the second round of the competition, soon."

"I think he began liking you after both of you had the same school instructor," he told her. "You like him ever since you knew about him. Why don't you confess already?"

"I don't know if he really likes me," Emi told him. "What if he's just using me as a replacement to the dead girl he liked before? He told me about her when we were alone in our room while waiting for our instructor."

They were talking to each other for so long already until they saw Kousei's brother getting inside the cafeteria with Sakura with him.

"So, this is where your brother studies?" she asked him.

"Yes. He's a musician as you remember. The orphanage bought a keyboard piano for him when he was recovering inside the facility" he told her as they sit at a table near Kousei's old rivals. "My brother is a good boy. I wonder why he told me to reconcile with my mom. I hate my biological mother for divorcing my father and making me live in the orphanage for so long. My family were the kids and the staff. That's what I did to alleviate my sadness. After divorcing my father, she left me in the orphanage and visited me once or twice in a year. I got adopted but my adopted parents died in a disaster that I survived alone. I was back in the orphanage after that."

Aiza Takeshi and Emi stared at them until Mikoto saw her at the table next to them.

He sat near her and looked at her eyes that made her blush.

Mikoto truly looks like a very matured Kousei with the exception of how different their bodies are.

Kousei's body is sexy which is good enough for a pianist while Mikoto is muscular. He's a basketball player anyway.

"You really look beautiful. He doesn't want to admit it but he likes you, Emi-san," Mikoto told her.

Sakura stood up from her seat. She's really getting angry with him after he left her alone in their table to talk to another girl, most especially, a girl in which his younger brother is interested with. "What do you think you're doing, Mikoto?" she shouted.

"Telling the truth to Emi Igawa?" he told her.

"Let your brother do it on his own! Stop treating him like a little kid! He is fifteen! He's an adolescent, Mikoto! You're making it awkward for him! You're being too immature today!" she said to him. All of them saw Kousei standing near them that shocked them.

He looked at Emi and blushed red more.

Since he really felt embarrassed when he heard Mikoto tell the truth to Emi, he ran away to hide his sadness and disappointment.

Of course, Emi and his brother followed him.

"I'm sorry, Kousei. I know I mean it that I said to her your feelings towards her without me being sure if you really like her. It's just that, I can see you like her that I assumed too much," Mikoto told him. "Do you like her?"

Kousei screamed to him, "How do I tell my feelings to her now, nii-san??? Now, she knows I like her! I'd feel awful facing her in our classes!"

Emi appeared and she seemed to pant before them. She hugged him tight after that.

"Do you really like me?" she asked him.

Kousei blushed and nodded. "I think I like you, Emi Igawa. I began liking you after you held my hand for the two of us to go in our first class with our school mentor. It developed while we practice for our piano duet, Emi. Do you like me, Emi?"

Kousei stared at her if ever she will accept him.

"I didn't know that you will like me, Kousei. Are you really sure you are serious that you like me? What about your childhood friend, Tsubaki? What about the girl whom you liked before?" Emi asked him.

"I know that Kaori told me about her feelings for me but I changed so much after my father died! I didn't fall for her no matter how I try. I know that she had always been with me all this time but I fell in love with you, Emi Igawa. Tsubaki is just a sister to me. I won't forget what Kaori gave to me. I will keep playing the piano for her since I promised never to forget her. Even so, after some time, my heart liked you. Also, Kaori's gone already. It is nonsense to keep staying in the past I can't go back anymore," he told her.

They were in silence after that while they are all in the empty hallway of Kousei's school until he asked her, "Will you date me, Emi?"

She smiled at him, "Why not, Kousei? I have always looked up to you. I also like you, Kousei-san!"

Mikoto smiled in happiness. "It's good to see you happy, Kousei."

"Will we tell our mentor that we like each other and we will be dating?" Kousei asked her.

He knows that they might be separated and one of them will be transferred to another instructor if ever their mentor learns of their newfound relationship.

"I don't know, Kousei. We have to keep it for a while," Emi answered.

Sakura and Takeshi followed them soon. That's when they saw Emi and Kousei smiling at each other that showed that they might have confessed their love for each other already.

Takeshi felt happy for them and so, he hugged the two of them. "I'm glad to see you liking each other!"

Both of them blushed. "We all have to go now, you know?"

In that instant, Kousei noticed that his brother held Sakura's hand.

"You're also studying here?" he asked her.

Emi and Takeshi looked at the two elders in front of them.

"Who's she, Kousei?" he asked him.

"Sakura-neesan. She's also in the orphanage where we are before," he told them.

Sakura and Mikoto grinned. "We're dating, Kousei. Just like you. I have a girlfriend."

Sakura blushed and said to him, "I haven't said 'Yes' you know? Also, we have to go already. It's getting late. Aren't you here to pick him up?"

Mikoto grinned. "Ah... Yeah. Kousei, we have to go now."

Kousei smiled in happiness and hugged Emi. "See you tomorrow, Emi. I'm glad that we can date after school tomorrow."
