Seto Hiroko felt really worried for Kousei. All along the journey back to his home, he was crying nonstop and asking them why everyone he loves was dying and why God takes them so early. He wasn't ready to let go of his father yet. He was excited for the new year but now, the excitement turned into sorrow.

He asked again how his father died and upon the time the authorities explained that his father was found buried alive under the factory that collapsed, he learned that his father passed away due to multiple inner bleeding and suffocation.

They gave him to Seto Hiroko for a while but reminded her that after they wake, they will take him to an orphanage while she organized the papers for adoption.

She will adopt him and that's her promise to herself. Kousei is already a huge part of her heart and knowing that Kousei no longer has any blood family, she would want to stand in as a mother to him. She guided him back on his bed and when she looked at Kousei, he was still crying.

...

The next day, Kousei's house was being surrounded by a lot of people in and out of their house. Most of all, there were people bringing a lot of strange decorations that can only be seen when someone died.

Of course, Tsubaki immediately became aware that something must have happened.

He didn't show up at the fireworks display yesterday.

She looked through her window and that's when she noticed that Kousei's house is busy with a lot of people wearing black yukata, white, plainclothes or black suits going inside his home.

She decided to go outside to see what was happening but when his mother saw her, she stopped her. "Where are you going?"

"Kousei's house, mom," she answered.

She sighed. "Going in there wearing red will be rude. It would look like you're happy."

That made her feel confused. "What is actually happening in his house, mom?"

"I just gave my condolences to your friend, Tsubaki. His father was one of the hundreds of victims of a strong earthquake that occurred in Okinawa, Japan," she answered her. "Since you are his friend, I think it would be a good thing that you show your sympathy."

That truly alarmed her and so, she went back up in her room. She changed her clothes according to the event and after that, she ran out.

...

When she was already in Kousei's house, the whole place's atmosphere was very heavy. The coffin was placed near Kousei's mother's altar.

Kousei was kneeling down with such empty eyes and after a while, he stared at the picture of his father at the top of a brown coffin with flowers on it. He was also hugging his mother and father's picture with him as a baby. It's also her first time to see him wearing a black suit. His face was down once again and even if he wasn't crying, his eyes were obviously in grief.
