"No baby, you go first."
"Sweetheart no, you first."
"But baby! You can't make me hang up on my one and only honey bunches."
I sighed loudly and rolled my eyes as Nate talked on the phone with his newest boy toy, a guy he had met in a bar close by who's a waitress at olive garden. We walked down the crowded hallways as I clutched my books to my self and looked down at the floor.
I looked back up, a sense of tiredness and so much wariness washed over me, I almost took a step back.
I suddenly wanted to just run - away from everything and everyone.
I was so tired of school and I was just so done with life, I didn't have it in me to go on another day like this. I liked school, I really did, but something about it irritated me.
The jocks leaned on their lockers, trying to look cool whilst some girls flipped their hair and pulled their clothes down.
We walked into the lunch hall, Nate finally hanging up and sliding his phone into his pocket with a contented sigh. Nate was one of those people who always needed that kind of romantic love, he was probably the most affectionate person I knew.
Nate and I walked forward towards the line and got our trays of food when suddenly, something hit my back.
I gasped at the cold feel of food on my shirt and turned around to see Reece standing up with a shocked expression on his face and hands covering his mouth. I would've laughed at his stance this big hunk gasping like a little girl, f I wasn't so angry right now.
"I'm so sorry Brooke, I wasn't aiming for you it was meant to hit-"
Before he could finish his shouted sentence, I picked up the small salad bowl off of Nate's plate, ignoring his sound of protest and threw it right at Reece. In the corner of my eye, I saw the whole table staring at me, noticing the absence of Cole, who hadn't come to school today.
The flimsy bowl hit his body with little force but enough to splatter the contents on his shirt and face. I gasped at my thoughtless action.
Reece wiped the soggy lettuce pieces off of his face as Nate whistled lowly next to me. I didn't think I'd have the balls to do that either, but I did.
The whole lunchroom became silent as Reece laughed with mirth and wiped the dressing on his face.
"Oh, it is so on."
In the span of the next few seconds, chaos ensued. Reece started throwing food at Nate and I as Jack, April and Amanda assisted us both to return the favour. We all laughed loudly when a bowl of spaghetti hit James and Amanda gasped and bushed at what she did, backing away.
James stood up, shook his head and threw a whole frickin sandwich at her as she narrowly doged it.
What a waste of a perfectly good sandwich.
Simultaneously, Matt and Liam got up too and started throwing stuff at us. Ranging from food to balled up tissues and spoons, they went all out.
In the next minute, everything went to hell as people started throwing stuff across the lunchroom and laughing at each other, total chaos ensuing. The girls ducked behind their bags and quickly shuffled out of the hall in their 6-inch heels, where behind them, burgers and plastic utensils flew through the air.

"That was intense." Matt laughed as the two of us entered the house after school. Some people had gotten detention, but most of us had gotten off easy. I laughed in response.
