"Cameroon's coming home tomorrow."
I looked up at Cole with confusion. "I thought you said she went to Ohio for the summer? Since college is starting and all."
"Yeah but she decided she'd spend a few days here and then go." Cole sighed and fidgeted with my hair.
We were sitting on my living room couch and watching a movie. It had been a few days since the last day of school, which is also the day we had sex (and I still can't think about it without blushing or curling my toes at the memory) and we had been seeing each other constantly. It seems that furthering our physical relationship had only made Cole even more, ahem, handsy.
About mid way through the movie Cole had decided he didn't want me further away from him - I was literally right next to him, leaning on his shoulder - and had pulled me into his lap.
I turned back in his arms to look at Cole's upset blue eyes, reaching out to stroke his jaw. "What's wrong?"
He grabbed my hand and sweetly kissed it, sighing again. I furrowed my eyebrows at him, confused at this turn. "It's Cameroon...Dad's forcing her to attend college in California, apparently he froze her trust fund and the scholarship she had rightfully earned was mysteriously withdrawn. It's obvious he's behind it, and he's paying her whole tution, which Cameron hates."
I turned to face him fully, the bright lights of the TV casting shadows on his face. "Wait, how did he have the scholarship taken away? And can't she just go to another University? She could get in anywhere."
"My father is a very powerful man, Brooke. He can get anyone to do anything with the snap if his fingers. He's doing all this so he can control Cameroon as much as possible, and she always seems so stressed and upset about it, not that I blame her. I hate that he's doing this. Jackass." He looked pissed.
"He does this with everyone in his life. I want to do something for Cam, anything, but she has no other choice but to finish up med school and move far away from him. I've tried to convince her to go to UK for University, I have a few friends there who could help her out, but she's adamant about finishing up here."
I studied his face, drawn up in harsh lines at the anger he felt. "That really sucks. But at least Cameroon would be free to do what she wants after that right?"
"There's no telling with my father."
I sighed too. "Right."
Cole rubbed his hands along my calves that rested across his lap, bent over the arm rest, with the rest of my body pulled close to his warmth. He was staring at the TV distractedly.
"Hey, when is she coming here?" I broke the comfortable silence.
"Tomorrow."
"How about we throw a party? In here itself. We could do barbeque, have some drinks out and a closer group of friends and family, maybe like 20 people, the backyard is pretty big." I looked up at Cole, excited at the prospect.
He looked down at me. "A party?"
"Yeah, something casual, it'll cheer her up, get her mind off of everything."
His blue orbs searched mine as his hands stilled on my skin. "You'd really do that? For her?"
I looked away, fidgeting with the hem of my t-shirt. "Yeah, I mean, I feel bad she has to go through that, no one should. I really like her, and what she needs at this point is to wind down, you know, spend time with friends and fa-"
I let out a squeak as his lips landed down on mine unexpectedly, drawing out a long deep sigh from me. His mouth slowly seduced mine, coaxing it open and exploring each crevice.
