"I asked you something Brooke. Where the hell were you? Its 1am."
His voice sounded tense and very pissed. I should have been used to an angry Cole by now, but his hard stance and rage still caught me off guard. My eyes widened as Cole took a step forward whilst I stepped back, which made him stop and raise a finely shaped eyebrow in my direction, the foreboding look still not gone.
"I-I was with Rhyson, w-we went out to dinner." I stuttered pathetically, wishing I was one of those strong and rebellious girls who have no problem telling people to fuck off.
"Oh really? Dinner huh? For 4 goddamn hours?" Cole almost spit in rage. "Its 1 fucking AM Brooke, don't lie to me, I know exactly what you were doing with him."
My eyes, previously interested in studying the wood floors, shot up at the accusation I could hear in his voice. Anger filled me as I looked at him.
"What the hell are you talking about? We just had dinner."
Cole laughed with mirth. "Do you really expect me to believe that Brooke?"
My mouth fell open with indignant anger as I looked at him.
"No, you know what? Fine. Don't believe me. Rhyson is just a friend, and I'm tired of you accusing me for things I haven't done, and never will." I was really angry by this time, stepping forward a little into the hallway. "I really thought you were different, and I, like in Idiot, fell for you. But I'm done - you're just like all the other boys, Cole."
I spun on my heels with my jaw set in determination, my hair swinging as I attempted to walk out fast. Before I could even take a step forward, however, my back was thrown against the wall harshly.
"What did you just say?" Cole asked in a tense yet unbelieving voice, his eyes flashing with so many emotions that they seemed to glow bright in the darkness.
"Brooke, tell me what you said. Say it again." He said, his eyes boring into mine and the command harsh.
My eyes widened as I realised what I had let slip out.
Shit shit shit fuck shit shit
"I-I-" I hopelessly stuttered, mentally cursing myself.
"Brooke I swear to god I will fucking take you over my lap if you don't repeat what you said. Say it again." Cole said tensely, his arms caging me in.
I sighed softly because I knew there was no going back. It was out in the open, and I had already started thinking of ways to avoid Cole from now on because there was no way I would face him after this slip up.
"I." I took a deep breath, gaining courage and looking him in the eye. "I love you, okay? You're the only person I've ever liked so much and I-I've fallen for you even though I know its dumb and just...." I looked down as Cole completely froze up in front of me.
Tears pooled in my eyes as I thought of the lost friendship and my stupidity of falling in love with him. This is what happens to girls who fall for guys out of their league, and I should've known better.
I forcefully pushed him and tried to escape from there, trying to save the little dignity I had left. A lone tear slipped out of my eyes as I slipped from under his arms, the man I loved and always would, who was currently still frozen in shock, probably thinking of ways to let me down easy.
My legs carried me to the landing as another tear escaped.
Suddenly, a hand clenched my wrist tight and stopped me from moving forwards. My eyes closed to hold the waterfall in and I promised myself a good long night of crying before trying to wiggle my wrist from his grasp.
