Chapter 3: Lunch..Date?

I walked out of my fourth period history class and headed to my locker to put my books away. I didn't know if Sodapop was here already or not but I wanted to meet him outside so we didn't have to find each other. Once I got to my locker I did the combo an shoved my books inside and grabbed my backpack.

I swinged my backpack on my shoulder an close my locker shut, jumping as I notice Two Bit standing on the side of me.

"Geez dude what gives?" I asked playfully as he smiled wrapping his arm around my shoulder

"I just wanted to ask you would you have lunch with me?" He asks leading me down the hall as people started to glance over at us

I blushed a bit and looked down messing with my fingers, I'm suppose to be having lunch with Soda but now Two Bit wants to have lunch with me? The guys never really had lunch with me one on one and it was getting kind of strange.

"I'd really like to Bitty bu-

"Perfect minnie let's go!" He says cutting me off an grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the cafeteria

"W-Wait!"  Me and a familiar voice from down the hallway shouts

Two Bit stops and turns around as do I, Sodapop comes rushing over causing me to smile once he stopped in front of us.

"What's up Soda? What're you doin up here at the school?" Two Bit asked curiously

"I'm suppose to be taking Y/n on our da-lunch! Our lunch session." He says as he slightly blushes locking eyes with me

"Yeah, that was what I was trying to tell you Two Bit." I say looking over at him noticing his face dropped

He just let go of my hand and nodded before taking off in the cafeteria making me frown slightly. I hope he isn't mad at me but Sodapop did ask me first anyways.

"You ready?" Soda asks causing me to turn back around to him and fake a smile

"Sure lets go." I say as we head out of the school

Once we are outside Soda offers his hand to me and I hesitantly take it an he intertwines our fingers. I smiled as he started to lead me away from the school. We walked in a nice peaceful silence until I felt the need to break it.

"So where are we going for our lunch session?" I said teasingly as we both laughed a bit

"It's a surprise." He says smiling wide as I raise my eyebrow

"Okay, but I do have another question for you." I say causing him to glance at me

"What is it N/N?" He asked smiling at me

"Why aren't you, you know having lunch with Sandy instead of me?" I ask as he frowns before changing his facial expression

"I can't have lunch with one of my best friends?" He says causing me to smile

"You can..I guess." I say shrugging before shoving my hands in my pockets

We finally made it to....the Dingo!? I smiled as I started running towards the entrance. This was my favorite spot and the gang knew that.

"Wait N/N!" Soda shouts as I hear him chuckle

I giggle and stop at the door waiting for him to catch up, once he does he holds the door open for me and I walk inside. We sit at a booth together and grab our menus scanning through them. I feel his eyes burning holes through my menu as he stared right at me.

"S how's school been?" He asks as he places his menu down

"Like school really that's all. Nothing that interesting." I say shrugging and placing my menu down

"Still the same old stuff huh?" He says chuckling as I roll my eyes slightly

"Well you wouldn't know Mr. Dropout." I say teasing him as he laughs

"I was thinking of going back actually and still working at the Dx but right after school." He says as I raise an eyebrow smiling

"You sure you can handle it? I mean that's a lot o-

"Welcome to the Dingo, I'm Rachel are you two ready to order?" She asks cutting me off with a smile when she locked eyes with Soda

"Yes I'll have a strawberry milkshake with a grilled cheese sandwich." Soda says smiling before turning towards me

"I'll have a (fav milkshake) with (fav meal)." I say as she writes our orders down

"Alright I'll be right back with your order handsome." She says winking at Soda which makes my blood start to boil

"You mean OUR order...bitch" I say mumbling the last word while raising my eyebrow at her an giving her a look that could kill

She simply rolled her eyes and looked me over, her whole facial expression changed. She flipped her hair and smirked slightly. This bitch trying to start with me?

"Yeah, sorry about that. Are you like his girlfriend or something?" She asks with a fake grin spreading on her lips

"Something like that more than you"ll ever be though." I say glaring at her before taking Soda's hand in mine

I looked over at Sodapop biting my lip with a smile on my face as he blushed smiling at me and interlocking our fingers. Rachel raised a brow and just walked off without another word but when I tried to pull my hand from Soda's afterwards his grip tightened a bit.

"What was that all about Y/n?" Soda asks smirking with a brow raised himself

"I thought this was our lunch...session, not waste my lunch time flirting with some broad session." I say rolling my eyes and crossing my arms over my chest

It was silent between us after that until our food came and I quickly dug into my chili cheese dog. I felt Soda's eyes still watching me as I ate which made me blush and avoid his gaze.

"You wanna know why I really wanted to have lunch with you N/N?" Soda asked causing me to look up from my plate

I licks my lips swallowing the last bit of food in my mouth before speaking.

"Why?" I asked curiously

"I wanted to tell you that I-

"Sodapop Curtis!" A familiar voice squeaked out in shock

"S-Sandy?" Soda says as I just drink my milkshake watching as she storms over to us

"Why are you here...with HER?" She asks placing her hands on her hips making me laugh

"What's it to you? We're just having lunch babe chill." I say smirking while placing my drink down as we locked eyes

"Yeah, we were just having lunch together Sandy. I owed her lunch after she beat me in this game we were playing the other day. You know we're just friends." Soda says making me feel kind of butt hurt on the low

"Wow." I mumble feeling Soda's eyes on me as I stood up

"Well okay, you don't mind if I-

"Actually I was just on my way out so you can have him now. He's yours after all." I say cutting her off an grabbing my drink before walking past her

"Y/n wait!" Soda says but I ignore him walking straight out the Dingo

Ugh I can't stand that Sandy bitch, she knows damn well she doesn't give two shits about Sodapop. The only reason she's with him is because he's one of the most hottest guys in Tulsa and all the girls wanted him. I drank my shake as I headed back in the direction of the school, I knew I was gonna be a few minutes late to my fifth period but I really didn't care at this point.

I still wonder what Soda was gonna tell me though, that broad just had to come and ruin things. Well so much for our lunch session I guess...
