Chapter 6: On The Run

I felt my eyes flutter open and I noticed that I was in the Curtis household. I sat up quickly which I soon regretted as it seemed to cause whiplash. Mickey mouse was on the tv screen as usual but the guys were nowhere to be found.

"Guys?" I say getting up after rubbing my head softly

There was silence until I heard the front door slam and in came the guys. They stared at me and Two Bit was the first one to get to me. When I locked eyes with Dally I turned away.

"Are you alright? You scared me back there." He says squeezing my life force from my body

"I'm fine just a bit startled." I said giggling softly as I hugged him back

After we pulled away Sodapop crashed his body weight into me. I stumbled back hugging him softly and inhaling his scent. It went on until the last hug was given to me by Dally which I refused.

"Seriously? You should be worshipping the air I breathed after what I did." He says and I give me a tf face

"Um, last time I checked I wasn't a damsel in distress and your still an asshole." I say rolling my eyes and crossing my arms over my chest

"What exactly did I do to piss you off?" He says confused and I just walk into the kitchen

I looked in the fridge as Darry came in and hugged me from behind. I blushed as I grabbed a bottle of water and looked behind me. He smiles and I smile back.

"I'm glad you're alright (n/n)." He says squeezing my waist gently

"Thanks but it wasn't anything serious I just was overwhelmed by what happened." I say as he lets me go

"You want to stay the night over here tonight?" He asks and I nod

"Sure that would be nice." I said heading towards the living room

I sat next to Sodapop who leaned his head on my shoulder causing me to smile. I noticed that Dallas was gone but at the moment I could care less. Johnny had stood up from his position on the floor and put his jacket on.

"Want me to walk with you Johnnycake?" I asked and I saw him blush softly

"Sure Y/n." He says smiling as I stand up

"I'm gonna tag along too." Pony says coming from the kitchen with his cheeks full of chocolate cake

I giggled and follow Johnny out the house. We all headed to the lot and I raised my eyebrow. I hope Johnny isn't gonna sleep in the lot.

"Hey guys I'm actually just gonna chill here for a bit." Johnny says walking over and sitting underneath the tree

"Okay well I'm staying too then." I say sitting down beside him and pulling out my joint that I saved for later

"I'm shocked that you have weed on you (n/n)." Ponyboy says with wide eyes and I shrug

"So, sometimes I like to get high." I say shrugging before shushing them and lighting it up

"Where did you get it from?" Johnny asks as he watches me take a hit from it

"Dally hooked me up with some guy that sells it." I say before taking another hit and passing it towards him

He stares at it before taking it slowly and holding it between his fingers.
I just look up at the sky staring at the stars and sigh thinking about today. I don't know why I was so worried about Dally flirting with Cherry.

"I'm gonna try some." Pony says which catches my attention

I looked towards him as Johnny was starting to hand it to me. Pony sat on the other side of me as I grabbed the joint. I slowly handed it to him but when he reached for it, I snatched it back.

"What?" He asks and I give him a serious look

"Look I don't want Darry to hate me so d-

"I won't tell him you gave it to me or that you even have any." He says and I nod before handing it to him

I turned towards Johnny and seen him sleeping which caused me to giggle. I zipped up his jacket all the way so he was kept warm and leaned back on the tree.

"You know I have had a crush on you for years Y/n." Pony says and I looked down to hide my blush

Ponyboy was fourteen and even though I'm only (your age) I feel like he's a bit young. I sat up before I spoke. He's a good guy and all but I like older men.

"Look Pony I think you're an amazing guy but I'm actually trying to figure out what I want." I say honestly

"I understand but I'm willing to wait for you. You know Dally isn't the only guy that thinks you're beautiful (n/n)." Pony says making me smile

"Thanks Ponyboy and sure I guess that's fair." I say and he smiles back

I lean over and kiss his cheek before laying against Johnny. Pony looked at me before getting comfortable and laying down beside me. Soon we both fell asleep after talking for a bit.

A few hours later I woke up to someone shaking me lightly. I slightly jumped opening my eyes before they focused on Johnny. I looked around noticing we were still at the lot and my eyes widen.

"What time is it?" I asked getting up and the guys both laugh at me

"It's not like we can tell time but it's late enough. Johnny you wanna come back to the house with us?" Pony asks and Johnny shakes his head

"I'm gonna stay here but I'll catch up with you guys tomorrow." Johnny says and I hug him before heading off with Pony

We headed to the driveway and walked up the front door. Darry was sitting in the living room reading the newspaper. I watched Pony hesitate to walk in so I grab his hand reassuringly and headed inside with him.

"Where the hell have you two been!?" Darry yelled looking between us and down at our hands

"We fell asleep at the lot it's not a big deal Darry." Pony says walking past me after letting my hand go

I watched as Darry's eyes followed Pony to the kitchen. He soon turned to look at me and I bit my lip looking down. I honestly never seen Darry so pissed off.

"You fell asleep at the lot?" He asked looking at me and I nodded

"Yeah me, Johnny, and Pony were talking then I guess we nodded off." I said and Darry shook his head

"You could have just all stayed here you know, I can't call the cops because Pony and Soda would be in a boys home so fast their heads will spin." He says making me frown

"It wasn't her fault Darry back off." Sodapop says coming from the back room

I looked towards him and saw him smile sympathetically at me. I just smiled back before looking back to Darry. Pony came back in the living room with a glass of milk and a slice of cake.

"I'm tired of you always taking up for people Sodapop and I never said it was her fault." He snaps back and Pony gets in Darry's face

Darry suddenly pushes Ponyboy across the living room where I was and I gasped. I saw Pony get up and stare at Darry. He ran out the door and I ran after him.

"Ponyboy! Y/n!" Darry yells after us but I just keep chasing after Pony

"Pony slow down!" I yelled at him but he didn't stop

He made it to the lot and tripped over Johnny. I used that time to catch up and as I did Johnny stood up after Pony did.

"What's going on?" Johnny asks and Pony starts to pace back and forth

"I need to leave. I need to go now." He says before walking off

I looked towards Johnny and we followed Pony as he lead us to the park. I didn't know what Pony meant by leaving but I wasn't gonna let him do anything crazy.
