Being a camp Councillor was never going to be an easy job that much you knew before you'd even signed up for the job in the first place, but even you had to admit you underestimated how utterly draining it could be just trying to prevent one of these kids from getting seriously injured (often by something that could get the other campers hurt or dragged into it one way or another too) .
The first few days of the job were hell - you'd tried to juggle your attention between keeping an eye on all of the campers whilst doing the other numerous duties you were required to do, something you soon grew to regret as the first day ended with a camp tent burning to the ground (fortunately with no-one inside) and you losing a good chunk of your hair. The tent had been replaced and the hair had since grown back to its original length but you'd at least learned from that experience that none of the campers could be trusted with scissors alone, and you soon learnt from your mistakes.
As the weeks carried on you grew more proficient and experienced in the ways of the camp so the times worrying about things going wrong weren't nearly as bad as when you'd first started, hell you grew to simply expect it by this point and focused instead on just being around in time to fix them.
Of course that didn't mean you weren't surprised or shocked from time to time.
"Aaaaaand, done!" you chirped, letting out a relieved sigh as you shoved the mop back into the bucket and rolled it back into its respective place, cleaning your hands on your sides as you looked about the mess hall. It was never going to be completely spotless, especially with all of the questionable things staining the floor and walls but you still did a damn good job if you did say so yourself; dipping into your own paycheck to buy some cleaning equipment seemed to be worth it now that you'd finally gotten around to using them all (not the mention the campers would be relieved to not have to use their toothbrushes...again) and with the cleaning for the day out of the way you now had the time to yourself to relax and take a well deserved break.
David and Gwen were in charge of the activities for this morning which made you thankful you did have to worry about dealing with the campers until you took over the afternoon with activities for the remainder of the day; you planned to make the most of the solid hour you had to kill before you inevitably had to start making your way over there and you wanted to relish every moment of it until you had to re-join your fellow councillors.
"OW!"
Speaking of fellow councillors.
Hearing David's voice from outside you perked up, confusion washing over you as you peeked out of the nearest window half-expecting to spot the quirky councillor outside, only to hear the door of the mess hall open as he stumbled inside. You swivelled around to greet him, prepared to ask why he wasn't with the campers.
"Hey, David what are you - oh holy shit!"
You couldn't stop staring as you took in David's appearance, your shock evident on your face as your jaw went slack. The poor guy looked as though he'd gotten into a fight with what looked like a bizarre fusion of a slinky, hair curler and a pinecone and lost horrifically; the...things were all over him, wrapped up in his clothes with some curled so tightly you were sure they were uncomfortable - hell there was even one somehow worked into that prominent tuft of hair trapping it down against his head!
