Tires squealed against the pavement, make an ear shattering screech. I closed my eyes ready for the impact. Ready for pain to surge through my body ending my short life. Completely prepared for what was about to happen.
But it never came.
A bright light surrounded me. The brush of feathers bumped against my arm. I cracked open my eyes looking at the thing in front of me.
Jaden had his arms around me. Massive, bright, white wings came from his shoulder blades. The wings circled around us as the sound of metal colliding with the ground filled the surrounding air. My eyes traveled up to Jaden's. His face was filled with terror, worry, concern. I gently brought my shaking hand up to his cheek. My eyes still filled with tears purred into his chocolatey brown eyes.
We looked at each other for a moment. Completely unaware of our surroundings.
The feeling of soft lips suddenly overwhelmed my senses.
Jaden leaned into the kiss, pressing his soft, plush lips against mind. I kissed back, wrapping my shaking arms around his neck. His hands traveled down my body to my waist. Pulling me closer to him till I was basically sitting on his lap. We both pulled apart at the same time gasping for air. A blush coated my cheeks along with Jaden's. I turned my face as I internally squealed at what just happened. A massive grin spread across my face.
His fingers gently pressed against my chin pulling my face towards him again. He pressed his lips to mind again. We pulled apart staring into each other's eyes.
"Are you okay?" Jaden asked while cradling my face in his hands.
I nodded, "I think I'm okay." My attention shifted to his wings. "So you're an angel?"
Jaden's blush deepened, "Yeah, about that..."
"Hey don't worry. You Light's kid, you should be an angel," That's when I almost died. Jaden's my uncle's kid. I pulled away from him. "Your Uncle Light's kid!"
Jaden quickly went into action to calm me down, "No I'm not!"
I turned back to him confused, "What?"
"Light is taking care of me while my parents are in jail. That's why I disappeared for a couple years. I'm not actually Light's son, we just act like it." (OMG TWIST IN THE STORY.)
I sighed, "So I can date you? Without you being my cousin?"
Jaden nodded happily, "Yeah, you can."
We leaned into each other for another kiss.
Minutes later Jaden helped me stand up from the pavement. Actually, it was the sidewalk. He must have pulled me away before the car hit me. The car was parked at the side, one of the tires were blown. I looked at the car slightly terrified. Jaden's wings disappeared much to my disappointment.
"So, if you aren't Light's kid, why do you have wings?" I asked Jaden as he picked me up in his arms.
"When I was 12, I got into drugs. I know there bad don't yell at me. Since I was so young I didn't know exactly how to use them. Light found me on the floor in his house almost dead. Turns out I overdosed on meth. Within the next 2 minutes I would have died, so Light did his magic and turned me into an angel. This all happened before middle school. Before I became your guardian angel."
"Wait, you're my guardian angel?" I was slightly overjoyed by this.
Jaden nodded, "Remember the hundreds of times that you would be in trouble and I would magically appear out of nowhere?" I nodded, "I have the sense that tells me when you're in trouble. Using the magic that I have I quickly fly over to you and save you from the trouble. Like right before you were about to get hit by the car. A tug came from inside me. I spread my wings and flew as fast as I could to where you were and seconds before the car hit you I pulled you out of the way."
I nodded along as he spoke. Though I started to burrow my head into his chest as I became more tired. "Did you know something was going to happen tonight?"
"Yeah, Itch warned me this morning.:
"Of course, Itch knows everything," I chuckled. Jaden's phone starting ringing.
"Will you get it, my phones in my back pocket," I blushed yet grabbed his phone from his pocket.
Itch was calling. I accepted the call putting it on speaker.
"Ask her out already!" Itch yelled through the phone.
"But we haven't gone on a date yet," Jaden whined.
I heard Rott laughing in the background, "You kissed her, that's good enough. Now ask her out before I walk to Anti's house to slap you."
"But what about Dark and Anti? How are they going to react to this?" Jaden questioned.
Itch was silent for a moment, "They are going to be overjoyed. Light will be slightly upset because you told her but otherwise he is going to be happy for you," Itch blurted.
"Itch, you're always right, aren't you" I giggled.
"Of course I'm always right! I know everything that's going to happen!" Itch yelled.
"Alright Itch, we gotta go. I need to get Phoebe to bed," Jaden beamed.
Itch groaned, "Ask her out. I swear Jaden, you better ask her out."
"Yes Itch, I'll ask her out. Now go to bed, it's 2 in the morning," Jaden playfully teased.
"Bye guys!" Itch and Rott's voice yelled through the phone.
"Bye!"
(Small time skip)
Jaden carried me through the front door. I was drifting in and out of sleep. The sound of muffled voices came from upstairs. He carried me to my bedroom gently setting me down on my bed. Just as he was about to leave I grabbed his wrist.
"Stay with me," I whimpered.
I felt the area next to me dip down. Jaden laid next to me pulling me closer to him. I curled up against him falling fast asleep.
