Ji-Young's POV
I checked my calendar to mark off the day the project must be done. September 18th. Aish, what an awful way to spend my Birthday. By 5 pm I was done with all my homework.
Hmmm, what should I do now? I'll have a shower, I need to wash all of the Jeon Jungkook. I shudder at the thought of all his germs and pick up my towel and fresh clothes and walk down the hall past all the empty rooms. I pass Seokjin's room expecting it to be empty but I am greeted by a half unpacked suitcase and the smell of his cologne in the air. I turn back and notice a little chocolate box by my door. I throw my towel on the floor and fly down the stairs.
"JIN OPPA! You're back" I screech as I run into his arms. He is already in his favourite pink jumper and jeans with messy hair and has swapped his usual contacts for his glasses. Seokjin is my older cousin who is like a brother and now my only family. Dad isn't around anymore and Mum is always in and out of the hospital. We get left a good amount of money every month from, we guess, Jin's real parents. Now Jin is training too soon take over a big music company. He is hardly ever home.
"Aww, Ji-Young-ah. I missed you. I see you missed the best and most handsome brother the world has ever seen. I got some time off." Jin is my cousin but he has always lived with us so he ended up living here as his parents were never responsible. A few years ago I just started telling people he was my brother and he told people I was his sister. He brings me into a big bear hug. "I'll be here till after your birthday." He smiles and rests his head on mine. I'm so short compared to him. He starts to pull away but I refuse to let go.
"Jinjja! That's great. Oh, I missed you aswell. I missed your cooking too!" I pouted. "Wait, you promised eomma that if you have long visits home that you will attend school. Just because you earned father's place and got an apprenticeship with a music company, doesn't mean you get to quit school all together".
"Ne, ne. I promise to go back. I bet Mina and Hoseok miss me so extremely much. I mean come on how could you not miss this beautiful face." he did his signature hand kiss. He is so cheesy.
"Look, I have been lonely and not eating much food so please can we eat."
"Speaking of food, can you go buy some stuff?" He held out a list from his pocket.
"You could just text it to me" I sighed, taking the list and placing it in my pocket.
"My Kakaotalk stopped working".
"Oh, you should get that fixed. Don't want to keep all your noona's waiting" I teased as I got my bag and keys from the table by the door.
"YAH... Ji-You..." I shut the door before he finished.
20 minutes later~
"So many choices". I am in the middle of the shop looking at some cakes for my Jin Oppa. I decide not to choose extremely chocolatey ones as he is older than me and apparently more mature. I doubt that. I settle on a simple sponge cake that is coloured pink with some frosting on top. As long as it's pink with frosting, he will appreciate it.
Eventually, I make my way around the store, picking up some meat, ramen, noodles, fruit, and vegetables. Making my way to the checkouts, I realise I forgot rice and make my way back to the end of the store. I pick up a large pack of rice and put it in my basket when I hear someone groan out of annoyance. An old man stands halfway up the aisle with a Zimmer frame. He struggled to reach for a pack of rice. When he reached it, it fell to the floor. I run over and place down my basket. I bow when he looks at me.
"Sir, do you umm.. need help?" I ask politely. He looked at me smiling. I pick up his rice and put it in his basket.
"Well, that would be very nice. It's so unusual to see a young person helping their elders these days." I took his basket in one hand and mine in the other and started to walk around the store with the old man, taking various items to add to his basket. We engaged in plesant discussion. He told me about his sick wife who he brings flowers every day. His story broke my heart.
