Y/N and Zach went to high school together, dating for almost a year. Y/N had some prior relationship troubles, scarring her. Zach knew that her ex abused her, and was very considerate about it, letting Y/N do things at her own pace, making sure Y/N felt comfortable. Y/N closed her locker, thinking about what Amelia, the cheer captain said. Zach walked up to her, a big smile on his face. "Hi Princess," he grinned. Y/N sighed, in response.
"Hey Zach," you shrugged. He frowned.
"What's wrong Princess?" he asked, taking your backpack and setting it on the ground.
"Nothing, let's go before we hold up the boys," Y/N said, not wanting to worry him. Zach stood his ground.
"The boys can wait, tell me what's wrong," he stated, gently holding her wrist. Y/N stared at her shoes. "Y/N, c'mon Princess, you can tell me anything."
"Not here," Y/N whispered, grabbing her backpack and pulling Zach out. They found Corbyn, Jack and Daniel by the car.
"Was wondering where you two were," Corbyn smirked. Y/N sighed and climbed in the car, sitting between Zach and Jack. The ride back to the Why Don't We House seemed grueling, probably because of the tension. Y/N stared at the window of the moving car.
"What's Jonha doing?" Y/N asked.
"I don't know, he's an adult, he's fine," Jack replied. Y/N raised an eyebrow at him.
"Adult? I'm amazed you five haven't burned down the house," Y/N scoffed. Zach smiled at the comment.
"Yeah..." Jack grimaced. Daniel parked the car in the driveway and got out. They entered the house, where Jonah greeted them from the kitchen. Y/N and Zach dropped their bags at the table, before he pulled her up to their room.
"Okay, it's just us, what's going on? Are you okay?" Zach worriedly asked.
"Amelia said that you deserve better. That a growing star likes you... needs someone... of higher quality. Frankly, she's right. I'm not as confident as I used to be. I'm not who I used to be. I get anxious, I get needy and clingy, you don't need that. She's right," Y/N huffed, staring at the floor. Zach's heart shattered. If only she could see that Zach thought he was out of his league.
"Y/N..." he began.
"Don't Y/N me, she's right and you know it," Y/N snapped. Zach smiled faintly.
"Amelia's wrong and deep down, you know what we have is something different," he corrected. Y/N stared him in the eyes, a flicker of hope flashing in them. Y/N hoped that he meant what he said. "It's not your fault you think you're needy and clingy, you're not. You just don't wanna be heartbroken again, who does? But Princess, you aren't clingy, you're loving, and you aren't needy, you're just defensive."
"Do you... mean it?" Y/N asked meekly.
"Every. Word," Zach promised, kissing her cheek gently. "I may not be your first kiss, first date, or your first love. I don't care someone had you before. That's okay, because they made a mistake of letting you go. I couldn't care less that someone could you theirs before, because I just want to be your last." For once in a very long time, Y/N felt secure and confident. Zach had chased away any insecurities.
"I love you so, so much," she breathed.
"I love you too, Princess," he smiled, pulling her into a tight hug.
"Thank you... thank you so much," Y/N murmured.
"I'd always help you Princess, no matter what," Zach assured.
