Chapter 10
Lola’s POV
I was being completely annoying on purpose. All because Harry insisted he was coming with me to the club. Why the fuck does he have to follow me everywhere? I’m going out with my bestfriend not some guy! It’s not like I would do anything with any of the guys there.
So we were in the large grocery store and I was throwing all the junk food in the cart while Harry picked out the fruits and vegetables.
“We don’t need this.” Harry said, grabbing the bag of gummy worms. “Oreos, M&M’s, Twinkies, Lola what are you, five?” Harry and I both knew the answer to that.
“I want it.”
“Well you can’t always get what you want.” He rolled his eyes, tossing back the items on the shelf. I shot daggers at him.
“You’re being a real dick you know that?” I told him, grabbing my choices and putting them back in the cart.
“Why? Because you can’t have your snacks?” He smirked at me.
“Just shut up.” I snapped, turning the corner and heading back to the fruit aisle. Harry followed of course, with the heavy cart rolling behind me.
“I already got fruit.” He reminded me.
“I know. But you didn’t get raspberries.” I picked out two of the best looking containers with the brightest raspberries. Placing them in the front compartment so they wouldn’t get smushed by the milk and bread, I lead the way through the frozen aisle. My eyes scanned the tons of choices of ice-cream, before finally deciding on plain vanilla. Harry didn’t say anything as I tossed it in the cart, and I was glad. I swear I was annoyed enough that if he complained one more time I would’ve smacked him.
I tossed in a magazine because I knew the next few hours on the road would be boring if I didn’t have something new to read. Harry paid for the groceries which seemed expensive but he was wealthy as hell so he could afford it. We packed the bags in the backseat of the car and started on our way to Florida.
The weather felt like it was getting hotter and hotter. The sun was beating down through the windshield, the windows cracked so the breeze would help. Even Harry was sweating, his curls sticking to his forehead. I so badly wanted to run my hands through them and get them out of his face, but I wanted him to know I was still annoyed with him. He cannot control me.
I leaned my head against the window and closed my eyes, listening to the old station playing on the radio. Harry was humming lowly to it and I was drifting off into a snooze.
*
I felt something against my cheek. It was soft and warm. Sighing quietly in my sleep, I shifted in my position so my cheek would get closer to the warm subject.
“Lo,” A voice said. I groaned, shaking my head.
“Shh,” I mumbled. The person chuckled.
“Baby, wake up for a minute.” Harry. For a moment I forgot where I was and who I was with.
“No.” I grumbled.
“Please? For me?”
“No.”
“I’m getting gas. Do you need to use the restroom? Might not be the cleanest place but it won’t be another three hours until we reach Florida.”
I sighed, finally opening my eyes. Harry was caressing my cheek with his finger, a gentle smile on his face and his eyes filled with regret. I looked at them for a while before managing a smiled myself.
