CHAPTER 3

Alyssa’s P.O.V

We talked, we laughed, we did everything a couple would have done just before they were ‘official’ but that was it.

He didn’t ask me to be his girlfriend just yet.

But here I was, lying in his arms right now and judging by those last few minutes I spent with him, he honestly didn’t seem like the same guy who wrote that love letter to me today but I didn’t make such a fuss.

I just kept telling myself it’s just a cover up for his image and reputation at school.

We stayed in each others arms for the rest of lunch until the bell rang and once again, we had to say our goodbyes and leave for our last lesson. Luckily it would only be like half an hour before I get to see him again anyway, so it wasn’t much of a big deal to me.

When I got to my next lesson: English, I was quite surprised at how empty the classroom looked without everyone else here yet, as I sat down in my usual seat next to Kendra’s, I then took out my books just before all the other students came in with our teacher following closely behind.

“Right class, take out your books and start copying this down from the board” Mrs. Evelyn calmly said before picking up a chalk from her desk as she started scribbling down onto the board.

I did what she said, since I didn’t want to earn a detention at the last minute of the day before seeing David later, until I felt someone nudge me by the elbow, catching my attention immediately as I turned to see a very curious looking Kendra sat beside me.

“Psssst, so… a little birdie told me this morning that you and a certain boy by the name of David Carter were together this morning… is this true?” she asked, but it wasn’t the reaction I would’ve expected from her.

Usually she’d get excited whenever I’m with someone but if I must be honest, she didn’t look too thrilled.

“Who told you?” I stupidly asked but honestly wanted to know anyway.
“Oh…someone” she joked.
“Well whoever it was, they were right” I played along as I watched her face go all serious again.

“Are you guys together now?” she blurted out.

“No. we’re not officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet.” I confirmed.

“Why not?” she questioned.

“I don’t know… it’s a Long story, but I’ll explain later on the phone or something…” I told her honestly.

“Okay” she just shrugged before turning to face the board again.

And for the rest of the lesson I waited impatiently until the bell rang and I was first to shoot out of the door, which can I just say – was very unlike me because I was usually last to come out of the classroom, so I guess I was pretty eager myself to see David again, that I didn’t even care.

I walked down the French department, popping my head through almost every single room I could find there, since it wasn’t particularly helpful for me to meet up by his classroom door if he didn’t even tell me what room he was in.

And wasn’t it the guys job to do that and not the girls? Don’t boys wait outside classrooms for the girls instead of the opposite…

Well whatever, I shook the odd thought out of my head until suddenly I stopped halfway down the corridors.

Wait wasn’t that Niall? I thought to myself as I turned to my right again, but only to see that no-one was there now.

I swear I had just seen his blonde hair and blue eyes pop somewhere out of the corner of my very own eyes just a second ago. Wow… I mean these corridors are pretty narrow and crowded… it’s no wonder why I’m seeing things lately that aren’t even here.

Suddenly, I then spotted a familiar shirt in the crowd just in front of me as I turned my attention to that way and started jogging up to the one who I knew perfectly well was.

“Hey, Wait…David!” I called out after him, as I watched him slowly turn to my direction.

As soon as I caught up to him, I folded my arms together and stood right in front of him so that I was blocking his path from walking any further, as I waited impatiently for him to explain.

“Alyssa?.... Oh shit, I totally-“

“Forgot? Yeah... obviously” I finished off his sentence for him as he simply nodded before continuing.

“Aw, well coach just arranged a last minute football practice after school because apparently we’ve got another match this Friday so umm…yeah, I don’t think we’ll be able to hang out this afternoon” he stated before giving a weak smile and turning away.

What, no apology? Okay, I get the fact that he’s popular, cool and everything but it doesn’t mean he can’t say a simple word like ‘sorry’ to me…

I rolled my eyes before putting on another smile as I took hold of his left arm and pulled him back a little.

“Well can I stay and watch then?” I happily suggested as he looked down at me as if I was going crazy.

“Um… It’s a private practice today so…”

“Oh. Um... right, yeah…I totally knew that” I sarcastically lied as he gave me a quick hug before running off with the rest of his team mates.

Well this is just great…

Getting stood up by a guy who I wasn’t even dating… well not yet anyway.

But still… the thought stung a little as I made my way out through the school gates alone. Guess I’ll be walking home by myself too then since Niall isn’t here either. I sighed before getting out my iPod and putting on my earphones as I began walking.

Niall’s P.O.V

I was just on my way out when I saw Stella rush past me and down to the French department. I didn’t know why she was in such a hurry but for some silly reason I decided to follow her. So I did and then I nearly got caught. She turned around at the most unexpected moment that I had to make a sharp turn to my right as I hid beside the corner of the wall behind the lockers.

I was almost certain she had seen me but then I saw her shaking her head as her attention then went to David.

And I know I shouldn’t have been watching again, but I was… and yet again, I heard every single word they were saying to each other.

From David’s pathetic explanation for forgetting, right down to Alyssa’s little ‘I understand’ speech; that I knew all too well was a lie to make up for not embarrassing herself.

It really did get me angry how Alyssa’s so hung over by David when really he’s just another dickhead.

How can he even stand her up like that? I mean seriously… football over a girl.

I know I’m a football lover too but if I had to choose between her and football, I’d sure as hell pick Alyssa.

And just seeing how unhappy she looked at that moment really did break my heart.

I watched her exit the school building before I began running after her, this time to apologize for my behavior earlier since I did owe it to her.

And if David couldn’t exactly apologize properly to her just a minute ago, then maybe I’ll be able to cheer her up with mine…
