*SORRY FOR THE WAIT*
When I woke up, I was blinded by the overly bright hospital lights. I was stuck in a haze until I hear the nurse's voice start to speak to me.
"Hello, I'm just checking you vitals really quick. How are you feeling?"
I go to speak but all that comes out is a scratchy whine. I stop myself and swallow before trying again.
"I'm thirsty..."
She nodded and walked out of the room to grab me a drink from somewhere in the hospital.
As I waited, my mind started to wander.
Still in a daze from the medicine, I didn't notice the nurse come back in. She spoke up, jolting me from my thoughts.
"Here's some water."
I smile at her then take a sip from the little paper cup that she handed me.
After a moment of awkwardness, the nurse spoke up again.
"Um, your boyfriend-Louis right? He's a few rooms over if you want to see him...."
I look down and blush before responding.
"Sure.."
She smiles before helping me stand up and walk, with some trouble caused by the cast on my leg, to the room where Louis was laying in.
When I saw him, an involuntary gasp left my lips. I walk over to his bed as I examine the visible damage.
There was a cast on his left leg and right arm. Scratches covering his arms and neck. His eyes had dark purple circles under his eyes making it look like he hasn't slept in weeks. He has a busted lip and stitches on his forehead starting at his eyebrow going up to the edge of his hairline. I grip onto Louis' good hand and tears start to form in my eyes.
I look over to the nurse as she handed spoke once again.
"I guess you don't know the worst part yet."
