CHAPTER 11

I woke up with the strong sun shining through my room, I sat up and stretched my arms above my head. Now being fully awake, I checked the time and realised I had 2 hours to get ready. This time my alarm didn't even go off.

That's weird I thought. I pulled the covers back and went to the toilet to wash my face and brush my teeth. I came out of the toilet feeling even more refreshed. I pondered and thought if I should shower or not. I decided I could shower once I get back from school, that would be a nice way to end my day.

I looked at my phone again going through my email and my texts, I placed it back down after realising that I didn't have important messages or mails. I sighed now rubbing my eyes, I wondered how I would get through school today. Emma you only have a year left you can do this! I said to myself convincing myself that everything would fine and the year would be over.

I looked in my closet to see if I could wear some clothes that made me invisible, I grabbed my black jeans, a white shirt and a black hoodie with some white converses. I rushed down the stairs and said a quick goodbye to my mum.

I walked quickly and at a fast pace, I looked at the time and realised I was half an hour early before my class started. I slowed down a bit after realising I was really early and kept on listening to my music.

I walked towards the parking lot and went in from the back entrance. Not a lot of people knew about this and therefore I could see less people. Before I could enter the door someone was blocking the way, a crisp black suit and shiny shoes.

A puff of smoke came my way and I coughed, blowing it away with my hand. I pulled my headphones out, ready to go at this person about how bad smoking was and how they should stop.

"Nice to see you here, I haven't seen you in a long time. Where have you been hiding?" He laughed and he put his cigarette out.

"Obviously hiding from you..."

"And other people." I said quietly.

"That's not really nice, I haven't seen you in your room either."

" Wow, that's not creepy at all." I said while folding my arms.

"It's not creepy it's being concerned."

Why would he be concerned about me? I thought.

He shuffled his feet together and  came closer to me. I saw a gap between his arms and ducked under them to escape him from coming closer to me. I looked back at him and stuck my tongue out. I quickly ran up the stairs and went to the second floor, I entered the hallway and stuck my head out of the door way and looked to adds both sides looking for people. I walked in to the hallway and was content with silence around me and the warmth that filled the hallway.
The stark flooring and the blue lockers contrasted well with each other. I found my self slipping into my register class room and sat in the corner of the room. I pulled my headphones out of my ears and placed them in my bag. I recently started to stop listening to music that often as my mother kindly reminded me my ears could be harmed. With that in my mind I decided to give my ears a break.

I pulled the blinds up that were right next to me and felt the sun on my skin, I started out of the window and looked at the trees and buildings in front of me and wondered how it would feel Like if I was free, like a bird, I wondered if there was really a point to school, a point to doing classes that I wasn't interested in. I then realised that in this reality it wasn't possible to be a bird, in order to survive I had to work hard, live a better life, not be an average person in and average job, I wanted to be better.

I stared to pull my books out already reading the next chapter that we didn't even cover yet, I wrote out the pages and highlighted the key points. I pulled some sticky notes and made key words and short colour codes. I didn't even realise how quick the time went by and already the class was filled with people. I saw a shadow in the corner of my eye moved around the room and sit 3 rows in front of me.

That's weird, that definitely looked like Ewan, especially his clothing I thought. I stared at his back trying to get a glimpse of his face. It was even more weird that he didn't say hi. Deep down I was a little be concerned that he didn't annoy me this morning. So after doodling in my book bored to death, the register was done and the bell was about to go.

"Alright class, as you know this whole week we are doing a switch programme where other teachers from different subjects will teach new topics. I will be leaving you in the care of Mr Daniels"

That's it I was officially doomed, I knew I was bound to get him in my class, great maybe if I pretend that he's not here he'll ignore me. But if I ignore him he'll make me stay back and ask me why. I could just glare at him the whole time to make him uncomfortable but then he'd probably like the fact that I'm giving him attention.
Argh!!!! I rubbed my temples and tried to come up with a game plan.

Ping! Ping!

I looked at my phone at saw a text from Beth.
'Hello :)'

Yooooooo

'Are you stuck in that stupid switch programme!'

Yes I am. I'm acc so done rn

'Haha don't be it's okay, just deal with it's only 2 hours.'

You right ngl

'I'm always right'

I laughed and realised that there were eyes on me, I blushed and I looked down at my phone.
Before I could reply the phone was snatched from my hand and I stared at the person who took it away in shock.

"You do know that you are not suppose to use your phone in class Ms Cranford" he walked back with his back now my focus.

"Erm when will I get my phone back sir?" I asked.

Please. Please. Please.
Don't say- after school
"After school" I silently groaned and I knew for a fact that he did this on purpose.

I nodded and looked at the window, turning my head away from him. I just wanted to avoid people and be alone. I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe.

"Ms Cranford! Are you sleeping right now? In class?! I am very ashamed of your behaviour, this will earn you detention for 2 weeks." I snapped my eyes open and I looked at his face and glared at him.

At least it wasn't after school. I could survive with lunch detention I thought.

"After school detention" I groaned and glared at him even more. Great at least we will have some great bonding time where I will be getting all my homework done.

While everyone had there eyes stuck to the textbooks at their desks, he winked at me and I gaped at him wide mouthed. However little did I know someone witnessed this.
