Chapter 18:
Rose's POV:
"Oh my gosh! So how was it?" Peyton squeals.
"How was what?" I ask, slightly confused.
"You know.... It." She says with a wink. I blush.
"I don't know..." I say, covering my face with my hands.
"How do you not know?!" Shrieks Peyton.
"You don't know?!" Exclaims Amelie at the same time.
"No..." I say shyly.
"On a scale from one to ten?" Peyton demands, throwing her hands on her hips.
"Eleven." I whisper, hoping they won't hear. They both shriek loud enough for me to go deaf for a few seconds.
"Give us more than that then, girlie!" Amelie says, shaking me by my shoulders.
"He marked me and the pain went. It kind of just escalated from there..." I mutter.
"Oh my gosh! You guys are ADORABLE!!!!!" Peyton screams.
"I'm not adorable." Ashton says, scrunching his nose. The girls and I grow quiet as we realize the boys were listening in the whole time. I blush and hide my eyes behind my hair.
"Let's go help with the picnic!!!" Says Amelie, breaking through the tension and pushing us all out of the door.
"Why now?" I sigh, not wanting to do anything other than sleep at the moment.
"Because, we need to help." Replies Amelie.
"Because why?"
"Because.
"No."
"Yes."
"No." I say more forcefully
"Yes!" Amelie states.
"But what do I help with?" I ask, holding my ground.
" you can go help string up lights and decorations!" She says shoving me in the direction I need to go in.
"Fine." I sigh, trudging foreword. As soon as they are out of site, I'm lost. I have no idea where or who I'm supposed to talk to.
"Rose, go that way until you find Henri's brother." Amelie says, popping out of nowhere. I nod, vaguely remembering the man she had introduced me to a few days back. I begin to walk in the direction she pointed at. I look through the crowds before I find the man I'm looking for.
"Rose, you here to help?" Asks a girl not much younger than me who I can't seem to recognize.
"Yes." I say quietly. She nods and pushes me over to a box full of white paper laterns.
"Hang these up in this pattern." She says shoving a paper at me. I look at the sheet and take a few seconds to figure out the diagram before looking back at her and nodding.
She smiles and walks back to the place where she was working before she lead me over here.
"Come on, Rosie." I mutter to myself before reaching into the box and beginning to string up lanterns. When I'm done, I stand back and look at my work.
"Nice job! Got any extra lanterns?" A guy says, walking up with a box. I nod and hand him my extra lanterns.
"Alright! Thanks then!" He says, walking to the next person and asking for their lanterns. I sigh and lean against a tree branch.
