{ I'm so so sorry that this has taken me forever to write. Other than that, happy Thanksgiving! I know that one thing I'm grateful for is everyone who has read this book and supported me as I write it, thank you everyone. Enjoy! }
<~> Lena <~>
Lena's eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she noticed was Kara looking down at her with a soft gaze. For a few blissful moments her eyes were focused solely on the reporter, but she was soon torn away from that as she winced in pain. Her shoulder had begun to ache once more, despite the medical attention she had been receiving ever since she'd been admitted into the hospital.
Kara seemed to sense her pain, and worry flared up in her blue eyes. "Lena, are you alright?"
Lena nodded, although that made her wince once more. "It's just my shoulder." She assured her. "I'm fine."
As much as she wanted to tell Kara that it actually hurt a lot more than she was letting on, she couldn't. Simply because she'd been raised among the Luthors, a family that wouldn't tolerate complaining, and all throughout her childhood she'd been taught to bury her weaknesses. This was something that she'd carried with her her entire life, and not by choice, but simply because it was almost instinct now.
In fact, the only person that she'd ever shared some of her deeper secrets with was Kara.
"Have they told you when you'll be discharged?" Kara suddenly spoke, she was looking down at Lena with a certain sorrow that caused Lena's heart to ache. "I hate seeing you lying in this bed."
"They haven't told me yet. But it'll be soon." Lena promised. "And I don't want you to worry, Kara. I'm fine."
"I know, it's just that I hate seeing you this way." She responded, and Lena caught a glimpse of her glistening eyes as she turned away to hide her tears. "Just, make sure to get better soon. Ok?"
"I will."
Kara smiled slightly, but a few tears were still glimmering in her eyes. "I'm going to hold you to that promise."
"I wouldn't expect anything else." Lena laughed slightly, not minding that it caused her extra pain.
Then suddenly there was a buzzing noise and Kara pulled out her phone, clicking on it and listening to whoever was calling her. As she nodded along to what he person was saying and her facial expression hardened slightly, Lena became more and more concerned. She didn't know what Kara was hearing at the moment, but it didn't seem good.
Then Kara sighed and turned off the phone with a beep. "I've got to go. I'm so sorry. It's... work." She said as she hurriedly got to her feet and picked up her things. "I'll see you soon. When I come back, you better be healed just a little bit more." Kara added with a grin.
"I'll try. Bye, Kara."
Lena watched as the reporter hurried out the door, and she was already beginning to miss her presence beside her.
<~> Kara <~>
Kara reluctantly left the hospital room; she'd much rather be staying with Lena, but Alex had reported a group of people attacking a building that required her attention. Normally, the DEO wouldn't be involved in such matters, but she'd specifically said that they were using some sort of alien technology, and the only ones who had that sort of technology were the Emblazoned.
