{ A WARNING FROM FUTURE ME: THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS OF THIS BOOK DON'T INVOLVE LENA, HOWEVER THEY DO HAVE SEMI-IMPORTANT THINGS IN THEM (THAT INVOLVE THE PLOT). THEY ARE ALSO NOT WRITTEN AS WELL AS THE LATER CHAPTERS. I would still advise you bear with me and read them anyways though. Enjoy! }

{ A/N: Just a warning that I don't plan on having this be a super quick-paced "I love you" and then they live happily ever after together type of story. Enjoy! }
<~> Kara <~>
Another explosion shook the building, sending a fresh wave of rubble and shards of glass cascading down onto the streets below. People screamed, panicking and trying to flee as it rained down upon them. Sirens were wailing as NCPD officers attempted to clear the perimeter and evacuate everyone to safety, but it was pure chaos and they were having a difficult time. Firemen had also arrived on the scene, and were shouting orders to each other above the noise of the crumbling building; they were planning on sending a team into the building to make sure it was clear of people.
Kara hovered at the edge of the building, next to the glowing sign that spelled out the word Veneficia in large bold letters. Scanning the building with her x-ray building, she could see a group of innocents huddled in a corner on one of the uppermost floors, but other than that, the office was clear of civilians. Leaping into action, she darted towards the nearest window, crashing through it and sending the shattered remains in all directions. At the back of the room, she could see the people backed into a corner, all shivering with their hands covering their heads and their backs hunched.
A few heads jerked up towards her as they heard the window shatter, and a few gasps and murmurs spread throughout the terrified group, along with sparks of hope that sprang to life in their eyes.
"Don't worry, I'm here to help you. I'll get you out of here. I ca-" Kara's words were drowned as another explosion went off on a floor below her, accompanied by shrieks from both outside the building and inside it. She stumbled, nearly losing her footing as the floor shook.
Not bothering to finish explaining what she was going to do, Kara picked up one person in each arm, and flew out of the building. The woman in her arms gasped and gripped her shoulder tightly as Kara began to descend, before setting the people down on the ground and taking off again as quickly as possible. The second time that she returned to the ground, NCPD officers were waiting to take the rescued people away. By now, ambulances and other medics had also arrived on the scene, and were wheeling the gravely injured away in stretchers.
After a few more trips, Kara brought the last two people down, but she wasn't finished yet. She scanned the building once more, and could see two bombs planted within it, both hidden in drawers.
