I sat boredly through the rest of my classes, thrilled to be spending time with Draco again. It was only the first full day and I already missed him. We had meals together and at least one class together, but we never really got to hang out like we used to when we were kids. We would sneak off to the field of wildflowers on the outskirts of the nearby muggle village and climb the giant tree in the middle of the vast landscape. We would hanging upside down on branches, or lay underneath during the fall and watch how the multi-coloured leaves would float down to the ground, like fairies dancing in the wind. On warm spring days when the flowers had bloomed and the field was a variety of reds, pinks, purples, blues, oranges, any colour you could imagine, we would bring baskets of food with us and sit on a blanket, happily munching on sandwiches and strawberries.

"Y-you are d-dismissed, Miss" I snap out of my daydream to find Professor Quirrell standing above me. Looking around, I notice the classroom is empty, with the exception of us two.

"Oh! I'm sorry. I'll be going now." I respond sheepishly, packing up my things and standing, waving a quick goodbye before disappearing out the door.

I make my way over to Luna as we head to our last class before I meet Draco: Transfiguration. I always liked Transfiguration -reading about it in books and watching my parents transfigure rocks into teddy bears, and as my mother would say, I have a possible future in that class, but Potions is most definitely my favourite, then charms, then Transfiguration. I also rather like Herbology, but DADA and HOM are quite boring to me. Maybe it's just Professor Quirrell, but I find DADA pretty sketchy. I know it's supposed to be about defending yourself against the dark arts, but the way Professor Quirrell teaches...I just don't like it one bit.

"Hey, Luna, wait up! Why didn't you tell me we were dismissed?" I inquire once I'd caught up with her. She looks up from The Quibbler and turns to me, pulling a face as if she were trying to remember.

"Oh, yes. You see, you looked deep in thought and I know better than to interrupt someone who is thinking that hard. You seemed happy, I didn't want to bother you." she replies, then proceeds to read her magazine upside down.

We take our seats on the right side of the classroom, Gryffindor taking theirs on the left side. I smile at Professor McGonagall and she winks at me before changing into her cat form. I heard that she was an animagus, but I've never seen one before. Just as she positioned herself on her desk, Potter and Weasley come running in. I chuckle when I hear Weasley make a comment about the Professor not even being here yet, and then again at their dumbstruck faces when Professor McGonagall transforms back to herself.

She sends them to their seats with nothing but a warning and starts the first lesson. With my past experiences with the subject, I was rather advanced in the class -for a first year, anyway-  and just managed to turn my match into a needle. I even did better than Granger. Giddy and nervous at the same time, I practically ran out of the classroom once we were dismissed. Stopping by the dorm to change into a plain white tee with light blue jeans and my sneakers, I make my way to the tallest tower in the castle, with all my homework and books on me of course.

"Hi" I say quietly, getting Draco's attention.

"Hey. I wasn't sure if you would come" he smiles, sits down, and pats the spot next to him.

I take a seat and pull out my homework, telling him about my classes so far as I finish each assignment. He seemed impressed that I was able to transfigure my match and make Snape almost smile. Not many are able to do so on their very first day, if ever. He then goes on to tell me about his day and I nod my head and make comments at all the right times whilst writing my potions essay. We talk for a little while until I stand up to look at the view. You can see the setting sun reflecting off of the shiny surface of the Black Lake, the silhouettes of trees in the vast Forbidden Forest contrasted against the rolling hills beyond. I smile to myself as Draco joins me, resting his chin on my shoulder. He's my best friend and I couldn't ask for anything more.
