"Cole, I'm seriously sorry." Dalton whispers over the tears running down his face, facing Cole's back.Cole could hear the sadness in Dalton's voice, he could hear the the broken, trying boy inside of Dalton calling out.
Dalton had been trying the entire night to cuddle with Cole but he had no success. He didn't know why but it made him sad to have Cole ignore him like that. Cole usually hugs Dalton the entire night, not having that touch made Dalton feel alone and unwanted, isolated.
Dalton's apology and his crying made a shiver go down Cole's spine and goosebumps appear all over his arms.
Cole was staring at the wall processing what Dalton had said.
"Dalton." Cole whispered, slowly rubbing his wrist, up and down.
"Yeah, Cole," said Dalton in a brighter voice, lifting his head from down by Cole's back.
"It's okay. I know you didn't mean to............I love you." Cole said calmly, taking time to really think over what he should say.
"I love you too." Dalton replied sweetly, his sobbing slowly fading. Dalton had didn't really know what love meant bit he did know that he got the greatest feeling of happiness when Cole said that he loved him.
Dalton slowly slid his arm onto Cole's waist, wrapping both arms around Cole's waist, holding him tightly. He didn't want to let go or he might never get to hold him again. The feeling of loneliness Dalton once felt faded away as he cuddle up to Cole, getting to hug him through the night.
~next morning~
Cole wakes up coughing and sneezing, he's sick.
"Cole, after breakfast I'm going to the store to get you so medicine," stated as he laid next to Cole in bed.
"No," Cole said quickly spinning from his side to his back, turning his head to look at Dalton.
"What? Why?" Dalton asked confused.
"Because..." Cole said thinking of something good to tell Dalton that wouldn't hurt his feelings.
"Because why?" Dalton asked in a whiny tone.
"Because...I don't want you going by yourself, I'm not sure if you should," replied Cole sounding worried.
"Oh, c'mon, I adapted to normal society just fine I can do it," Dalton retorted, feeling in control.
"I'm going to ask someone else to do it but you can go with them." Cole suggested.
"Okay, fine." Dalton said feeling a little less in control.
Cole flipped back on to his side rubbing his hand over his wrist slightly.
"Ah, Cole?" Dalton asked softly.
"Yeah, Dalton," replied Cole just as softly.
"How's your wrist?" Dalton asked, mumbling slightly, looking away from Cole.
"It's fine, it's just bruised on the sides." Cole stated softly, rubbing his wrist.
"Can I see it?" Dalton asked timidly looking at Cole's back.
"Ah, I'm...I'm not so-" Cole began saying until Dalton pleaded asking "please".
"Okay," Cole said sliding his arm closer to Dalton's.
Dalton took Cole's hand and held it against his chest.
"I'm so so sorry." He said faintly then kissed the bruises on Cole's wrist, making Cole shiver slightly.
Dalton held Cole's hand close to him and intertwined their fingers.
Cole was overwhelmed, Dalton had never been so caring since he was saved. He was being so compassionate.Maybe Dalton was really adapting, learning, caring. Cole could've cried he was so happy.
His mad boy wasn't so mad after all.Note: I did this when I should have been sleeping, like 12:00 am. So sorry it's a bit crappy but once something is crap it can only get better!
