I walked along the road thinking why Clara seemed so worried when she called me over. Her house was just a few blocks away. Since these days I was being paranoid, I kept looking around for a sign.
I saw him again. Twice. At unexpected times. His huge solid figure was the only thing that I could make out. Ghosts are said to have transparent bodies. Some say they do come to people in solid forms or either while being possessed. I wasn't sure how I should categorize this mysterious man who appears and disappears right after a blink. Every once in a while I get to see a rose on my table. It creeps me out. The fact that I don't feel like anyone is watching me but the roses appear out of nowhere. It's just insane.
I reached the mansion and rang the doorbell twice. Clara opened it and gave me an unexpected hug.
'Whoa...what's up girl? You okay?' I patted on her back. She was trembling.
She sniffed 'I didn't know what to do so I called you here' she was almost in tears but wiped away with her sleeves and let me in.
'What happened?' I asked still holding her.
She didn't say anything until we were sitting on the sofa. The house was quiet. Meaning her father wasn't at home. Her father was her only family and he didn't have much time for Clara. Although, he does free up little of his time to see how she is doing.
'Someone is in the house' she finally announced.
'A burglar? What the...' I stood up 'let's call the police. No wait lets investigate while the police arrive'
'No no. wait' she pulled me down beside her 'it's nothing like that' she said that almost in a whisper. 'It maybe...something... a ghost' I couldn't hear her voice at the end as she mouthed those words.
Dealing with a ghost wasn't much fun.
'What happened? Did it hurt you?' I asked as I held her hands.
'No...I don't know. It has been two days. I was alone and then I began to see the furniture move by an unknown force.' Her voice was small and hushed like.
'A poltergeist' I defined the term. Clara looked more worried than before.
'At night I woke up to someone mumbling near my ear. I was so scared. I didn't know what to do. I guess I fainted after hearing a glass shatter in the room. But when I woke up in the morning. There was no shattered glass' she explained in one breath.
'Oh my god...' I gasped 'don't worry. Everything is going to be fine' I calmed her down a little.
'I tried to tell dad but he doesn't listen. He doesn't believe in ghosts' her defeat was sure in her voice.
I took my phone 'let's call the others'
'Wait... what if anyone gets hurt?'
'Maybe. But Aron and the others will help' I called Terence since he was the one at home with Kevin. Travis was still at school helping with his club activities. As for Aron, I guess his shift would be done after an hour or so.
'Yes toots?' he answered.
'Don't call me that' I sighed 'hey can you come over to Clara's house? Now?'
'Now? I don't know, our game is on' I heard Kevin curse out loud. Terence said 'shit man! Why did you die at a time like this?'
'Alright then. We will deal with the poltergeist on our own then' I said out loud.
'Huh what?? What? Did you just say?' then 'wait don't you deal with something like that. Where are you?' he sounded worried.
'Clara's house. Come over' I hung up before he could reply.
