Everything is ruined.
The prison is falling apart and you could've fallen with it if Daryl wasn't there to save your ass. Your ears rang at the sound of gun shots and growls from walkers.
"Glenn!!! Glenn!!!" You screamed at the top of your lungs while Daryl dragged you into the woods.
No no no. I can't lose Glenn again. Not again.
"Y/N look at me. Look at me, please." Daryl spoke, desperately trying to catch your attention.
You struggled in his arms, trying to go back to the prison. Your face was a wet mess of tears and sweat from struggling... Your legs growing numb.
"I can't-- please! Glenn!!!" You shouted again your voice cracking and turning into sobs.
"Sshh... Y/N we 'ave to go. He'll be fine, we'll find 'im." This caught your attention as Daryl held your face in his hands. "Please... We need to keep goin'. Okay?" You nodded finally getting back to your senses and jogged along side Daryl.
------
You stared at Daryl as he lead the way to a cabin surrounded by trees. He stopped and waited for you to catch up, then held your hand as you two continued to go inside the cabin.
You threw your stuff in a corner and slumped beside it. Staring at nothing in particular...
Daryl stood a few feet from you, looking at you and then to the ground."I can't do this anymore..." you whispered. Daryl heard this and made his way to your side.
"Y/N..." Daryl tried to say something but with everything that happened back in the prison, he couldn't think of a way to make it better... Even for himself.
"I just found him... Now I don't even know if he's still alive." Your voice cracks at the thought of losing Glenn forever or worse seeing his corpse walk among those monsters.
Daryl couldn't tell you that everything would be fine... He's struggling to keep his own frustrations aside just to keep the both of you from completely breaking down. He moved to wrap his arms around you, cradling you to his chest.
Everything was still and silent except for you and Daryl's heavy breathing.
You started feeling every emotion from guilt, grief to fear all at the same time. You're slowly losing the adrenaline and you just want to the feeling to end.
"...This was all my fault." You blurted out while staring at nothing in front of you.
Darryl shook his head and held me tighter. He didn't agree but he decided to ask and listen. Too tired to argue... Too confused of everything that's been happening..."Why?"
"I...I shouldn't have joined all of you in the prison..." You started spilling the thoughts that were spinning in your head, almost hearing your own voice yelling at you.
"Glenn? He was safe there, with everyone, with you. Ever since I came along I started trouble after trouble... And I started the war with Woodbury the moment I decided to go after Glenn..." Tears were already falling and you were shaking at the thought of bringing harm to all those good people.
Daryl still didn't say anything after that, instead you felt him kiss the top of your head while rubbing your arms. After all the crying and shaking, you eventually fell asleep in his arms.
"You're the best thing that entered my life after we found the prison... I love you Y/N." He whispered as you started to calm down in his embrace.
====================
You stirred as you felt your bed move, only to realize it was Darryl trying to move you. You had both ended up laying down on the floor of the cabin, with your head on his shoulders.
He stopped and stared at you for a minute, as if hoping you'd fall right back to sleep, but you sat up instead.
"Sorry, it's early but I wanted to find us anything to eat."
"It's okay, I'll go with you--"
"It's fine, you can rest more in here, you'll need the energy later."
"...why?"
"We can't stay here anymore, if walkers are still coming their way to prison, we don't want to be anywhere near." Darryl explained, taking his crossbow and checking his arrows for cracks.
"Then can't we go now?"
"Nah, no food, no energy... it's dangerous. We'll leave after we eat." He kisses your head again and looked out between the planks we set up on the windows. Then you realize...
"You're not just gonna go hunting are you?" This caught his attention but he kept his gaze down while preparing to leave.
"Darryl if they got out... if Glenn got out... I want to look for them too." You tried hard to make him look at you and when he finally did you gave him a pleading look.
"Please." Staring at you now, you can see he was only worrying about you.
"I swear, if you don't find any tracks, I won't push... we'll keep moving from there." He finally gave up and helped get what he had left ready.
