Episode 16

You opened your eyes. You looked at the fire burning next to you. It was the fifth day of your expedition. And you didn't feel better at all. You were traveling with two other soldiers. A girl with black hair Rize and a tall, brunette man named Sebastian. They quickly became friends but you tried to be as quiet as possible.

-Hey. - it was Rize. - Your watch is next.
-Oh. Okey.

You quickly stood up and walked on a hill right next to your camp. You saw Sebastian climbing it right behind you. When you got to the top you turned around. You had to look high up to see his face so you moved a few steps back.

-What is it? - you asked crossing your arms.
-I just wanted to talk.
-Okey. Then talk.
-I'm here to help. To do something more. I didn't want to just sit anymore. - as you didn't replay he continued. - Why are you here?
-Not to make friends, that's for sure.
-You look... really sad you know. I thought that you may need one actually.

You remembered your time spend with Nanaba and the others. You swallowed the pain starting to burn in your chest and answered.

-I do?
-Yes. You look like someone who have been through a lot lately.
-And who hasn't?
-True... Listen I just wanted to talk. Maybe help.
-I'm here because I wanted to be alone for a while. I'm sorry. But you have to understand.
-I do. Just know that I'm here. If you want to talk about your problems.

He walked back to the campsite. The rest of the night you spent looking at the stars.
The next day you had to slowly get closer to the main walls. Tomorrow was the last day. You didn't found any trace of titans. As always you rode a little faster then those two. But after a while Sebastian cough up to you.

-Hi.
-Hey. - you really didn't want to start any conversations with him.
-Tomorrow is our last day together. - you looked at him strangely. - I mean. The mission ends tomorrow. - his face turned red.
-It does. And?
-I wanted to tell you that... even though we didn't talked much. I wanted to invite you... to a drink.
-A drink?
-Yes. You look like you really need one.
-Yeah...
-Did you? You almost smiled!
-And?
-Nothing! It's just. You are really beautiful when you look like that. I would like to see you laugh someday.

You looked at him and pulled your reins a little to ride even faster. When you left him behind you remembered when you was younger. You used to drink all that expensive alcohol when no one was home and then fall asleep in the garden. But since you joined military you didn't have time for things like that. At the evening you stopped in a small village. You found a cheap hostel and left your horses there. Rize decided to stay in her room and go to sleep. You walked with Sebastian into a small bar at the edge of the town. He sat next to the bar and looked at you.

-So. What do you want to drink?
-Um.. Bear?
-Oh come on. You need something stronger. I will have a whiskey with ice please. - he said to a bar tender.
-Fine. - you sat on a chair next to him. - Then I will take three shots of vodka please.
-Okey! - he laughed. - Now you are talking.

After drinking in silence for a little while he turned to you on his chair.

-So. How are you feeling?
-Good. - you said taking the third shoot.
-Want to tell me now what happened?
-No?
-Okey. - he pulled something from his pocket.
-You smoke? - you asked looking as he lighted his cigarette.
-When I drink. Yes. Do you?

He pulled one and handed it to you. You used to smoke when you were young. Tried every way to piss of the maids.

-Thanks. - you took it.

He lighted it up for you. You ordered three more shoots and after the last one you started to get a little dizzy.

-That's my last one.
-You sure?
-Yeah. - you stood up. - We have to make it to the wall tomorrow. Let's get back.
-Okey.

On your way to the hostel Sebastian started to tell you stories from his childhood. When you made it to the doors you looked at him.

-Thanks for the evening. Really.
-You are welcome. I didn't made you laugh though.
-Yeah... - it became awkward.
-I would love to see you laugh. - he moved closer. - You are so beautiful...

He tried to touch your cheek with his hand but you quickly moved back.

-I-I'm sorry. I'm not really... I have...
-You have someone already?

You didn't say anything. You started to panic inside. You saw Levi in front of your eyes.

-But you know. He is not here. Is he?
-I'm sorry. Good night.

You nearly run to your room and locked the door. You felt that pain in your chest again. You tried to fall asleep that night but it was impossible. You couldn't stop thinking about Levi. Your love to him. And what was he wanting to tell you that day. -He probably wanted to clear things out so it wouldn't be as bad as it is now.- you though to yourself. -I'm such a burden to him now. To the whole squad.- You remembered those actions that took place recently because of you. In the morning you were almost fully convinced that you should leave squad Levi.

Levi was sitting in his office. All those days since you left he couldn't sleep. He was worrying about you even more now. He didn't know what to do. What to say. Suddenly a soiled opened the doors to his office.

-Haven't heard about knocking? - he said with anger.
-I'm so sorry Sir! - the soldier saluted. - But I have an important message from Miss Hanji.
-What is it? - he focused all his attention on him now.
-I'm here to report that Miss Hanji with her squad captured a titan from inside the walls Sir. They will be transporting it to the station situated near your location. The titan was caught thanks to the patrolling squad.
-What?
-This weeks patrolling squad.
-Are the members all right? - he tried to sound emotionless although his heart was beating like crazy from all the stress. - One of my really good soldiers is there this week.
-Um. I-I'm not sure. I think I saw a girl being nursed still at the camp on the wall. But I don't know what about the others.
-You will lead me there. Now.
-Y-Yes Sir!
