Chapter 40- How Much I Love You

*Autumn's POV*

    I was sitting at a table in the cafeteria with Pattie and Avalanna, eating a sub sandwich. I set my sandwich down to feed Avalanna some applesauce. I had a hard time getting it in her mouth. After I fed her the applesauce, I took out a bottle I put my milk in, pulled her out of the high chair, cradled her in my arms and fed it to her. She looks so much like her father, yet she has my eyes. I wonder why that is. I guess it doesn't matter. She's the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen.

"She looks just like her father." Pattie spoke up.

"I know, the funny thing is, she has my eyes." I said.

"Why's that funny?" She asked.

"I don't know, I mean, if God's going to make you look like one of your parents he may as well just give you their eyes too." I said.

  "Honey, God works in very mysterious ways. I learned that when I was about your age, well, a little younger. It was when I was pregnant with Justin that I learned. I just wish your mom could've learned that too." She said.

"I know she loved me, I mean, she gave me up so I could have a better life. The problem is I came from a very similar background like yours." I said.

"Yeah, but hey, look where it brought us. I mean, I'd say I'm in a much happier place than I was when I was your age and wouldn't you say the same, like you're happier now? I mean, you and Justin have a very beautiful little girl together and I know he'll wake up. I know he doesn't want to leave you and I especially know he wants to see his babygirl grow up." She stated.

"Yeah, I guess I am happier." I said as I took the bottle out of Avalanna's mouth, put her little body against my shoulder, and patted her back to get her to burp.

When she finally did, I put her back in her buggy and wrapped her up in her little blanket. I kissed her nose, then stood up so I could give Pattie a hug.

"I love you Pattie, you're like the mom I never had." I said.

"I love you too Autumn.You're like the daughter I never had." She said and we both laughed.

  As soon as I sat back down, the doctor came up to us.

"I have great news." He said.

"What is it doc?" I asked.

"Justin's awake." He said.

   As soon as he said that, Pattie and I rushed to the elevator and we went up to the fifth floor. We went down the hallway and found Justin's room. We opened the door and I immediately went up and attacked him with a hug and kisses all over his face.

"I see you really missed me." He laughed.

I gave him one long kiss on the lips then pulled away to catch my breath.

"I sure did." I said.

Pattie came up and gave him a hug.

"Hi mom." Justin said as he kissed her cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too." She said as she pulled away.

"Hey, where's my little princess?" He asked.

   I took Avalanna out of her buggy and handed her to Justin. He held her in the air and made flying noises like she's an airplane and she laughed. Then he set her down on his shoulder and patted her back, then she burped again. Justin sat her up so he was looking into her eyes.

"Did you burp?" He asked as he laid her down on his chest and started tickling her and she bursted into laughter. "Did my wittle daddy's girl just burp?"
