From Rags To Riches

Chapter 8

Andrea began playing her guitar as I turned to face Jake. We had the undivided attention of the judges and didn't want to mess up. After a few seconds I started singing.

" Hey brother, there’s an endless road to re-discover, " I sang, making sure my voice was loud and clear.

" Hey sister, know the water's sweet but blood is thicker," Jake answered.

" Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you,

there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do, " we sang in unison. Logan began playing the drums at this point, adding the loud upbeat  sound to the song.

"Hey brother, do you still believe in one another?" I asked him.

"Hey sister, do you still believe in love, I wonder?" he asked.

"Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you,

there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do," we harmonized.

"What if I'm far from home?" Jake sang, his voice echoing in the room.

" Oh, brother I will hear you call, " I told him.

"What if I lose it all?" I asked.

"Oh, sister I will help you out!" he answered, the truth shining in his gray eyes.

"Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you,

There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do," we sang and I noticed the judges were scribbling on their clipboards. The young guy was looking fiercely at the paper, thinking. The blue haired woman was scribbling and looking up at us smiling. The older man was writing something quickly and then looked back at us, a blank thoughtful look on his face.

Andrea and Logan started doing the instrumental as Jake and I caught our breath. After a few more verses we finished with a solid, "There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do."

The woman jumped up clapping her hands excitedly while the other two were nodding their heads slowly. They all realized that the four of us were standing there awkwardly, waiting for what we were supposed to do next.

"Oh! Sorry guys," the woman said, walking towards us. She stuck her hand out and said, "I'm Katherine Queen. "

As we shook her hand, Andrea seemed to barely control herself from screaming and the young man put his papers down and came infront of us.

"I'm James Star, nice to meet you, " he said, a  grin inching it's way onto his face as he took in Andrea's starstruck face.

"And I'm Walter Smith. We'll be making sure to contact you guys in a few weeks to inform you if you made it in or not. You'll get the call around three in the afternoon, " the blonde-haired judge said.

That's it? We just audition and go?

We all seemed to have gotten the same bewildered look on our face so James and Katherine smiled at each other before assuring us that, yes we just had to audition but that we would be contacted within two to three weeks.

Nick then came inside the room and led us out, shutting the door a second before Andrea shrieked.

"WAIT !! I need their autographs! Please? I really just, at least let me get James's autograph? " she asked Nick, widening her blue eyes into the puppy dog effect.

Please, does that even work on guys?

Nick tried not to fall under the clutches of the puppy dog eyes, he really did. But, Andrea has a gift.
