Warriors An Awaiting Dawn: The First Trial

Chapter 1

"Looks like strangers." Little Ear whispered. Wolf Fur's hackles rose. They had to be a threat. They were hunting here! The snows had grown harsher and the air grew colder each day. Prey was scarce and the group had to hunt what seemed like almost everyday. It looked like a trio of cats. Pelts all long and fluffy except one. One in the lead, a short pelted yellow she-cat with bright green eyes. She looked their way. Little Ear slinked over. "What are you doing?" He asked.
"We heard of you, and we were thinking, got room for three more?" She asked. Wolf Fur bounded over. "I don't buy that for a moment! State your business! Have you come to steal our prey?" He asked instantly, getting in a battle stance.
"Eager ball of fur that one is." Rumbled a mighty brown cat. Violet Leaf drew over to them. She had come with them. Viper Strike and Ginger Foot were patrolling with them as well.
"I like to apologize for my brother. He's prickly mostly." Viper Strike muttered.
Ginger Foot shoved past Wolf Fur. "Are there only three?" He asked the pale yellow she-cat. "My name is Hawthorn. The brown ungroomed ball of fur is Shade, and that other ball of fur, but is a brown and white tabby goes by Owl." The pale yellow she-cat replied.
"Hey, you're one to talk." The she-cat named Owl purred in amusement.
"But yeah, just the three of us." Meowed the brown tom.
Ginger Foot purred.
"We heard so much about you from our dear friend Autumn. How you fight and hunt and climb trees." Owl meowed. Viper Strike smiled. "The fighting is what has me interested." Shade put in, letting his claws slide out. Wolf Fur eyed him, something gleaming in his gaze. Viper Strike flicked her tail. "You must all be cold. Please come with us." She meowed. They all followed after them. Viper Strike walked beside Wolf Fur. He kept to his sister's pace. "So.." he began awkwardly.
"Don't start." The she-cat raised her tail. "Don't start what?" Wolf Fur asked.
"Not right now." She padded away from him. "Hey." He caught up with her. His sister whirled on him. "Not right now I said." She growled.
Ginger Foot appeared beside her, muscles rippling beneath his fur. He was pressed close to her.
"You either. I'm still mad at both of you." She snapped at her mate. Wolf Fur watched her trot away. "Look what you did." He rumbled. "I think you have it wrong." The white and ginger tom commented.
"I can still hear you!!" Viper Strike yowled. The two toms padded close to each other.
"She-cats." Wolf Fur mewed in his ear.
"I kind of agree." Ginger Foot meowed in an equally hushed tone.
Violet leaf shoved through them "I can hear you mouse brains too." She huffed. Wolf Fur felt his pelt grow hot. Violet leaf shook her head at them before padding to catch up to Viper Strike. The ginger tabby she-cat looked at her friend. "My brother is such a,"
"Yeah I know." The black and ginger she-cat meowed.
"I honestly cannot see why you want to be his mate." The ginger tabby she-cat went on in hushed hiss with a roll of her eyes.
"I don't know...there's something about him." Violet Leaf meowed.
Viper Strike blinked for a moment. The black and ginger she-cat went on. "I don't know but he draws me in." She mewed.
Viper Strike let her friend continue.
"He kinda makes me feel protected."
"You know my brother really is good for you." Viper Strike mewed softly.
"Yeah and Ginger Foot's good for you." Violet Leaf purred.
A purr rumbled in her throat. "He's soft and he listens. Like water. Which is a perfect match to your fire." Her friend continued.
Something swelled inside Viper Strike.
"And not to mention your kits would be beautiful." She purred with a smirk.
"K-kits?" Viper Strike stammered, her eyes widening.
Violet Leaf chuckled. "I'm teasing." She purred.
