Frost crackled under Wolf Fur's paws as he eyed a rabbit, that would soon be a meal for the group. He dashed forward and felt the neck snap between his teeth and warm blood bathe his tongue. He remembered he and his sister's argument. Especially that word. Clan. Where had she learned it? And how come it was that he hadn't known it?
The young tom pushed his questions aside and picked up the rabbit. He pushed through the camp entrance to see Shade talking to Violet Leaf. The fluffy brown tom was standing tall. "In seasons like this, I would never leave camp with my claws sheathed. Because deep in the forest is where I saw a dog once." He mewed, almost in a dramatic and boasting manner.
"You saw a dog?" Wren gasped, dashing over on tiny paws to listen to him. Curly Branch and her brothers sat beside her, listening intently.
"Yep." Shade replied, rising to his paws, he slowly lashed his tail. "So there I was, just hunting, until I heard a," he imitated a dog's growl. Wolf Fur put his rabbit down, not taking his eyes off Shade. He was interested himself. Even if this did sound exaggerated.
"Dogs think they're smart, but I'm smarter. So I crept up on the dog and scared it! Sending it running away! But I wasn't done. Oh no, then I clawed it across the face!" He went on. Wolf Fur had an annoyed look on his face as he listened from a semi-close distance. Definitely exaggerated..
"Wow! That's unbelievable Shade!" Hawk's Cry chirped.
"Yeah.. no kidding." Wolf Fur rumbled in his own agreement. He hoped Violet Leaf wasn't captivated by this clearly over dramatic hoax of Shade's. The black and white tom looked over to see her reaction. Her eyes were wide with interest and awe. He almost couldn't believe it. As if this story wasn't mouse-brained enough as it was. She flicked her tail and purred. Shade's eyes gleamed. Wolf Fur turned and slowly headed for the den. He flopped down in his nest. "What's wrong with you?" The questioning voice made him jump. He looked up to see Ginger Foot.
"Wh-where did you come from?" He asked startled.
"I've been here he entire time," the white and ginger tom replied. "Listening to the story about the hoard of dogs."
"Hoard? I thought it was just one." Wolf Fur meowed, his tome turning as cold as the season's ice.
"Oh yeah. He changes it." Hawthorn was standing by the den. "Everytime." She went on. The others were listening in awe. Violet Leaf's eyes glittered. Wolf Fur began to bristle with rage. He tried to calm himself down but simply curled into his nest. With a huff, he looked down.
