Wolf Fur straightened up. He was going to do it. Violet Leaf was sharing tongues with Leaping Breeze and Prentice. He walked over to her. "Violet Leaf... can I talk to you?" He asked, trying to hide his nervousness. "I wanted to ask you a question." His stance was tall.
Leaping Breeze and Prentice exchanged an amused glance with each other, their eyes gleaming.
Violet Leaf faced Wolf Fur, she gave a slight smile and nodded. "What's up Wolf Fur, is everything okay?" She asked him, tipping her head to one side.
"Well other than wolves and filthy rogues.. anyway.." he shifted on his paws nervously. "It's leaf-bare. Ever since we first met last season, I thought you were the most kind and beautiful she-cat. I love you. I can no longer hide my feelings," The black and white tom went on. "Violet Leaf? Would you do the honor in being my mate?" Wolf Fur mewed at last. Violet Leaf stood stunned for a few seconds before a large purr escaped her. "Of course, Wolf Fur.." she rubbed her muzzle along his. "I love you too..." her mew was soft and sweet. The tom purred with joy. He and Violet Leaf were mates! This must have been a dream. Only it wasn't.
Viper Strike padded over to them. "Congratulations." She purred to her brother. Ginger Foot nodded his head, one cat to another.
In the back of his mind, the thought of his ancestor's and Twilight's words came back. What if he couldn't protect her? He pushed off that unbelievable thought. How could he ask himself such a question?
Suddenly, Hawthorn bounded into camp and skidded to a halt on her paws. "Rogues! Seems like a troublesome lot of them!" She yowled. Little Ear sprang to his paws. "Gray Sky, Silver Leaf, Dapple Spots, Moth Foot, Gorse Feather, Grass Shadow! Follow my lead!" He yowled. Thresh followed after. "Wait for me!" He called catching up behind his campmates. Wolf Fur straightened up. He wasn't sure if he should follow them into possible battle or stay with Violet Leaf and keep her safe here in camp. "Are you going?" Viper Strike asked him. Wolf Fur blinked slowly. "Um... I don't know.." he responded. Shade huffed in disappointment that he didn't get to go with the others. Owl tapped her tail to his shoulder. Leaping Breeze stood beside them. "Come on, you two can guard the camp with me incase they decide to pick more of a fight with us." She meowed. Wolf Fur sat beside Violet Leaf, pressing up against him. He let the moment last. He didn't want to leave her alone. What would his father do? If only you and mom were still alive..."We sure handled them. They won't forget us in a hurry!" Moth Foot declared proudly. Magnolia nuzzled her. "I heard!" She mewed. Silver Leaf was sharing tongues with Thresh. "You fought really good since your leg healed!" He exclaimed in approval. The black tom lifted his head and a purr rumbled in his throat. Little Ear stood on the rock. "We had a challenge today," he began. "And we have prevailed!"
"As we always should!" Gray Sky yowled on his paws. Deer Snout stood beside him and looked up at Little Ear. "Will it happen again?" She asked.
"Stars above knows." Light Mist replied. Dove's Pelt curled her tail around her three kits. "My kits!" She wailed in worry. Running Fern nuzzled her affectionately. "We'll show those mange-pelts who this forest belongs to." He meowed.
"In other news, Dove's Pelt successfully had her first litter of kits. Cloud Shadow, Snow Tail, Short Storm and Swift Step!" He announced. The group cheered their names in unison. Little Ear waited as the cheers died down. "Silver Leaf, I'm counting on you to guard the camp." He meowed to the silver tabby tom. He lifted his head proudly. "You can count on me!" He meowed. Nettle stood up. "Can.. can I help?" She asked shyly. The ticked tabby tom nodded. "Of course." He purred in response.
