The howls of the wolves swelled in the forest again. Little Ear's amber eyes looked somewhat distant. "They're terrorizing us even more." He rumbled.
"Luckily the hooved things have come back. They're everywhere lately now." Flick meowed. "Hooved things?" Viper Strike asked.
"Deer." Ginger Foot responded. "My old Twolegs used to have those." He went on. Deer Snout nodded her head. "They used to be in the mountains too. But that before you and your brother were born." The pointed she-cat mewed.
"Good. Maybe they can flay things besides us this time." Sage Pelt meowed.
"Maybe we should ask the starry cat!" Curly Branch piped up. Dapple Spots looked at his small kin. "Starry cat? What starry cat?" He asked.
"The starry cat at the shiny rock in the den." The tortoiseshell she-kit replied.
Pigeon Talon's eyes grew wide. "Starry cat..? Shiny rock?" She mewed. "Go to the den where the stars shine brightest." The lilac tabby she-cat muttered. Rue stared at her. "Pigeon Talon?" She asked her companion.
"I think I get it. I know what their sign means now!" The amber eyed she-cat shot to her paws.
"You do?" Leaping Breeze asked, rising from her nest.
"What?" Gray Sky joined in, eyes widening.
"Really?" Dove's Pelt joined them. Then Thresh made his way over. "What's going on?" He asked. Questions rang out every which way in the camp.
"I have to find this den." Pigeon Talon meowed at last as cats slowly gathered around.
"Have you got mouse tails for ears? There are wolves, owls, Twolegs and their boomsticks!" Light Mist yowled.
"I am not sure but I have a feeling that something is stirring. And it'll only get worse with this cold. But if we disobey our ancestors,"
"That snow must have gotten in your ears at some point! Because there is no way you are doing this!" Grass Shadow blocked her path with a growl.
"Let me do this. I have no choice." The she-cat lifted her chin. The black she-cat let her hackles rise. "It's bad enough for us we lost Fish Scar. But if we so much as even found a wound on you.." she didn't finish, her wyes darkening with an unreadable emotion. "I'm not a kit Grass Shadow! I am the healer of this group! Let me fuss over you! Not the other way around!" Pigeon Talon argued.
Viper Strike looked around. "Has anycat seen Wolf Fur and Violet Leaf?" She asked. Leaping Breeze twitched an ear. "Last I saw they left camp." She replied.
"With wolves about?!" Dove's Pelt cried in alarm.
Ginger Foot stood by his mate's side. "They're out. Gathering fresh-kill." He meowed, giving his mate a glance. She suddenly remembered. "Yeah!" The other cats all looked at them suspiciously.
"Can we bring our attention back to Pigeon Talon wishing to risk herself?" Grass Shadow broke the silence.
"I cannot let the ancestor's wishes for us go unnoticed." The lilac tabby simply snarled as that was the end of it.
