Since you both lived in he sand it wouldn't make a difference, but naruto invited Gaara and he wanted you to tag along, so that's what happened!! Gaara tried to build a perfect sandcastle while you was helping him out. In the end he gave up and you swam in the sea.

Again, you both lived in the sand village so it didn't make a difference. You where both on a mission and decided to stay for a extra day after the mission at the local beach.
