'What?' I asked, looking at Zoey, who was still laughing as hard as she could.

'Ah, it's nothing. It sounds so stupid. You're a fox, in the middle of a world of war and magic. People are warriors, wizards, kill people in a little second. And you're a shapeshifter.'

I wanted to argue about the fact that being a fox could be good to, that I was fast and nobody would care about a tiny fox, but I didn't. She said something that was very interesting.

'What did you say? Shapeshifter?' I asked, while getting a little closer to her.

She started to giggle.

'Ah- don't come too close. I can't handle that,' she said, pushing her glasses back onto her nose.

I sighed deeply and put my hand on my neck, looking into her eyes. It was hopeless to get some information out of her, I could see that she wouldn't say anything. She planned on doing something, which I wasn't supposed to know.

'So, give me your hand,' she said, while climbing onto her desk again.

I wanted to run out of the house to try out the "fox powers", but I didn't really knew if that was a good idea or not. Okay, yes, I was certain that it was the worst thing I could do. But staying with Zoey wouldn't make me happy at all. She was acting like someone with weird plans. And I didn't wanted to become even weirder than I already was. I mean, as a fox.

'What do you want to do with it, make claws on it?' I asked sarcastically.

She didn't seem to get the sarcasm in my voice, because she started to laugh hysterically, while putting her hands in front of her face.

'I don't know why Mad once said that you were smart..' she whispered hopelessly, grabbing my hands.

She whispered something and placed her hands fully around one of mine. It started to hurt as hell, but I couldn't really do anything about it. If I tried to move them, they wouldn't even move an inch. She held them really tight and it was hurting like hell. I wanted to scream, yell and shout, but everytime I opened my mouth, it closed again. I gasped and tried to stay in a normal position, but when it started to hurt some more, I started to push Zoey away with all the power I had. She didn't move an inch and still held my hand.

Suddenly, the pain stopped. Zoey pushed my hands away and started to gasp a little bit, looking down at her own hands.

'And we managed to do it again,' she mumbled to her own hands, 'we're not that bad after all, we are good at this.'

I smiled softly at the fact that she was proud at herself. It was good that she was happy. She looked like someone who was happy all the time, but if that was true.. Maybe it was just a little cover.

My hands were burning a little, like something was planted inside it.

'Turn your hands around and look at them,' Zoey said, with a little smile.

In some way, she didn't looked as scary as she looked before now. She looked nicer and much more relaxed. She could've been nervous all the time, but I didn't really know if it was that hard to do.. what the hell she did.

I turned my hands around, as she asked me to do. I looked at the palm from my hand and frowned my eyebrows. A red scar  ran across my palm, a little up to my wrist. It was just a scar, not more than that, not less. It didn't really had a shape. I rubbed over it and felt the pain disappear.

'What did you do?' I asked, really amazed.

She told me a lot after that, summarized it was something like:

'I thought you needed some help and I decided to make a scar on your palm. It makes you a lot stronger, but you have to activate it yourself. It's hard to do this and you have to find out yourself how you do this.'

She was in the middle of her story, when the whole room suddenly lighted up. I bent down really quick and protected my faces, but when I saw that Zoey was standing still, holding her glasses so they would stay on her face, I knew that nothing was wrong. It was like everything that happened in that world was normal. Unicorns, double rainbows, they wouldn't surprise her. But what the hell was she? Was she a witch, or something like that? And how did she get into that world at first? She didn't really seem liek someone who would walk around with Mad. And.. she didn't look dangerous too. Was she kidnapped from the outside? That would be.. so sad. Just.. trapped.

I slowly got up, looking at the thing that just crushed into the room. It looked like a huge lightball, dangerous and warm.

The bright light weakened and weakened, untill it wasn't even visible.

There stood a person in the middle of the room. One of the bookcases fell on the ground, so it looked like a huge mess in the little room.

'Gray?! You're already here?!' Zoey shouted, jumping up, running up to the guy that was looking around him.

I assumed that his name was Gray. Zoey hugged him softly, pointing at me.

'He really needs some help.. this is the poor guy Marina probably told you about,' she said, pulling her glasses back again.

Gray had silver hair and gray eyes, what looked special. Like he was an angel.

Wait. Was he.. like.. really.. an angel?

Wait. He came here in a lot of light, so he could be an angel.

'I'm Gray,' the guy said, 'I'm fourteen, how about you?' he asked, really cold.

Wait. Fourteen? That young? He looked... 19? I was fifteen.. Even I was older than he was.

'I'm Ryan.. Fifteen.'

I shook his hand. The first thing he did, was looking at Zoey.

'You already scarred him?' Gray asked, mouth dropping open.

Was that a bad or a good thing?

'Just hurry, I don't want Mad to win again,' Zoey said.

Her voice was weirder than before. More serious. Was it an act that she had put up when we were alone? And what was their relationship? I meant, between Zoey and Gray?

'Yeah yeah, calm down, I'm hurrying. I just don't feel like rushing things, like you do. This guy over here looks a little freaked out. Did you say something wrong?' Gray asked.

I decided to walk off and look in the mirror again, while the two of them were arguing.

My fluffy ears looked kind of cute on me, actually. And the tail.. was cute too.

It couldn't be that bad to be a fox, could it? Just a little running around, being a fox and stuff.

You know that I didn't  had a single idea from what foxes did?

'We can go, foxy,' I heard Gray say.

'Don't call me foxy,' I mumbled.

Before I could say something, Gray snapped his fingers and we disappeard into white, bright light.
