Third Person P.O.V

Charlie said nothing. Merely stared out of the car's window in confusion.

"W...Where are we?" He asked, hesitating a bit.

Li looked out the window with a blank look - and that was what scared him. Normally, if they were going somewhere "fun", a small smile will tug at the girl's lips. If they were going to a meeting, the girl would have a grumpy look on her face.

But not this time.

It was just...blank. As blank as a refrigerator door.

"Li...anna?" Charlie questioned after a few moments of silence. Li slowly swung her head towards his direction.

Their eyes met and Charles froze with fear.

Dead.

Her eyes were dead. No light, no sparkling like the day before when they were going out to eat. It was completely dull and glassy.

Then her eyelids came down slowly, the sunlight pouring in from outside causing small rainbows to dance on her eyelashes. When she opened her eyes back up, they were full of bright mischief.

"Yes Charlie?" She answered, her voice savoring the words, causing shivers to climb up and down Charles's back.

"Um...Where are we going?" Charlie reeled in his shock.

"That," her eyes beamed. "Is a surprise."

"Will I like it?"

Li shot him a look. "Think back to all the surprises I gave you. Were they what you like?"

"N-No," Charlie stammered. "I mean, y-yes!"

"Then you'll like this one," she gave him a close-eyed smile right before they entered the tunnel, spooking Charlie out of his mind. Rubbing his hands together, he stared back out the window, thinking back to the surprises Li gave him.

Flashback...

"Is it safe?" Charlie asked warily.

"Of course!" Li lied through smiling teeth.

"Okay..." Charlie slowly reached into the black plastic bin and took out something long and hard. A snake came hissing and jumped onto his shoulders, winding itself around his neck.

"Eeee-" Charlie clamped his mouth shut as his eyes widened with desperation. Looking at Li, who was silently laughing at him, he knew that asking for help will do no good.

Squeaking, he spoke, "Please get off of me?" The snake raised its head and glared at him with its slitted eyes and flicked its tongue onto his cheek.

He stayed in that position for two hours.

Flashback ended...

Charlie shuddered at the memory and came back to reality.

He watched the world go by through his window as the soft purring of the car's motor and the slight rocking motion of the vehicle pulled him into blissful sleep.

Li's P.O.V

I looked at the reflection of Charlie from my window. He's asleep. Good.

I glowered, shifting myself away from Charlie. Looking at his face frustrates me to no end.

Why oh why do I have to protect this fuckboy?  I narrowed my eyes. When I find him, I will wring his neck and break his balls.

"Mistress, we're here," my driver spoke.

"Thank you," I got out of the car. I glanced at Charlie. The reason why I brought him was so I can show him what we're going up against and that this is business and not something he should take lightly.

I was going to wake him up but decided not to. It'll scare him shitless when he realized I was gone and the driver is silent.

I made my way down the road and found myself at the start of a small pathway that weaved through the woods. I heaved in a small sigh and started down the small staircase and walked into the woods.

Time skip...

I was nearly sprinting, jumping over logs and climbing vines. Why? Well, back there, a landmine nearly blew my legs off. I sniffed the air and a slight metallic scent entered my nose. I leaped left, dodging the small bomb buried under dead leaves.

I threw myself onto the tree and climbed higher and higher until I reached the top. I put on my goggles and searched for my prey. I heard a small scrunch and turned my head. Two figures were approaching me. One shorter figure was Charlie. The other...

My heart leaped and so did my legs. I tumbled to the ground and grabbed the boy and yanked him behind my back. "What the fuck are you doing here?" I hissed.

"I came to look for you!" Charles answered.

"Couldn't you have waited?" I grumbled. "What kind of idiot walks on unknown territory without knowing where to go?"

"What-" he began but I cut him off by pushing him into the hollow of a tree.

Charlie's P.O.V

A taller male stood over us, smiling, "I found you." He merely stated it, and not in a taunting voice.

"I'm surprised you're on the front lines," Li's voice was a mere whisper.

"Well, I gotta greet my lover and she came so willingly," he smiled. He had snow white hair and menacing red eyes. He seemed like an albino but his skin was tan. He looked to be as bit as strong as Lianna is. And what's with the lover comment?!

"I'm no longer your lover, Actaeon," Li snarled. "That was a long time ago."

"Oh? So is this boy your current one?" Arctic-something-or-another raised his eyebrow. Acta- Acte- What. How do you pronounce his name? Whatever. I'll just call him Arctic.

Lianna and Arctic stared at each other, and the air crackled with static electricity. I could feel myself cower behind Lia, feeling weak. Then they shifted their gaze to me.

It was the hunter and the huntress, and I was the prey.

The hunter pounced first.
