"Laxus...?"

The bright golden color in her eyes started fading away, her chocolate colored ones coming back. His gray eyes stared right at her, full of shock and surprise. With ten million soldiers out on the battlefield, the chance of them meeting was low. But to see her now, he was speechless.

"Lucy," he said again.

But Lucy's attention was cut away from him as her golden eyes returned. She swung her fan in front of her, causing the tens of mobile suits to fall to the ground. Laxus looked at whom she was protecting and furrowed his eyes. It was Ren Kouen.

Her breathing was ragged and he knew that she'd been fighting for quite a while. Kouen noticed Laxus a few feet away from her and saw Lucy on a pile of rubble. He immediately flew to her, sending debris flying.

"Kouen," she faintly whispered as he held her in his arms. "Don't."

Kouen refused to listen to her and the swirling lights of blue, pink, purple, and white appeared around the two. Laxus watched in horror as Kouen struck his hand into her chest as Lucy's eyes closed. He could see a blazing golden sword being pulled out of her and Lucy cringed.

"Sorry, Lucy," he whispered. "But I'm using it."

The phoenix lance. However, in his hands, it appeared differently. Instead of a lance, it was a large and long sword. In truth, the weapon wasn't called the "Phoenix Lance" but rather, the "Phoenix Blade".

As Kouen pulled it out of her, he pointed it at the impending enemy and blasted a beam, incinerating them. The whole line of enemies fell and Kouen set Lucy down back onto the rubble as he went on to fight. Lucy struggled to get up and supported herself using both of her forearms.

"Kouen, don't..." she reached out a hand towards him but he was already too far away.

He was the only person besides her that could use the Phoenix Blade but with his power as an immortal, the weapon would end up controlling him. Her magoi was now his and she had no way of doing anything. Her Aegis kicked in as she laid there, her white clothing now covered in soot. She collapsed on the ground and Laxus hurriedly went to her side.

"Lucy!" he picked her up.

"Laxus..." she looked up at him.

He widened his eyes when she called him. "You remembered?"

She chuckled to herself. "How could I forget? There's no way I would forget that face of yours. Especially those eyes."

"You idiot," he smiled, tears starting to form in his eyes.

"You're an idiot," she replied back. "Laxus, why did you leave me at that time?"

Laxus remained silent as he finally mumbled back a reply. "I was scared."

"Scared?" Lucy repeated, curious.

The Laxus she knew was never scared of anything. Even during the battle with Typhon, he wasn't scared.

"I was scared of losing you," he clarified, his voice trembling with distraught. "After I found out about me being your fated person and all the lives you've lost because of it, I grew scared. Scared that I would be the cause of your demise. I was scared of seeing you go."

Lucy stared at him as his tears dripped onto her face. He held her tight with such warmth and strength. Her lips quivered as the warmth flowed through her. The whole in her heart was being filled once again as she gave him a smile.

"Laxus," she said.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Do you love me?" she looked at him in the eyes.
