Once outside of the club, Clary was being helped by Isabelle while the three boys were leading the way.

"Jace." The blond turned around and looked at a shocked Clary. "Clary, we have to move."

"I'm catching my breath," she answered back, tears welling up in her eyes.

"You know what? This is great. And not only did Magnus not get the girl her memories back, he took the necklace. This is fantastic-"

"Alec, the girl... her name's Clary and I highly suggest you keep your voice down," Jace interrupted.

"Why? What, are you afraid I'm going to upset her? We have risk our lives again and again for this girl and her brother, and where has it gotten us? Alright? Nowhere. We're no closer to getting the Mortal Cup. And we've lost the Institute's necklace," Alec finished, his body almost touching Jace's.

"Hey, I am right here. I don't care about your damn jewellery. I'm sorry you're gonna look bad in front of your bosses, okay? But my mother's still missing and my last chance at finding her just disappeared into thin air," Clary ranted.

"Clary is going to be fine," Jace told her. "No, it's not! People are dying because of me. And Magnus? Magnus will never come out of hiding again while Valentine is still after him. We're never gonna find him. And I will never get my memories back," she snapped,  throwing something to the floor.

"Okay, you know what? Stop making everything about yourself. I know you feel bad because mom lied to you and kept this whole world a secret but it's not fair to take it out on everyone, especially me. I've been through shit since we became part of this stupid world but have you noticed?"

"No, because you're too worried about yourself and your stupid pride that you ignored your own brother when he sacrificed everything for you. I wanted my normal life and be just as clueless as you but no, mom wanted you to be protected, so stop making this all about you because she's my mother too and I just want her back so I can go back to being a semi-normal college student," Justin finished talking to his sister and turned around.

"And you. If you don't want to help us that's fine. But we at least have a clue for something important to your world so you better treat us the way a human being should be handled," Justin started, turning Alec around so the taller boy could face him.

"I didn't want this to happen, I didn't ask for this but it happened. Deal with it, grow up. Let's just finish this so we can get out of your lives."

The Lightwood boy stared at him in surprise, mouth parted. He knew Justin had slight anger issues and ranting tendencies but this whole thing blew it out of proportions.

Alec also noticed how Justin's eyes flashed black a couple of times during the exchange, the sight terrifying him.

Isabelle noticed the tired look on the redhead's face and the dark bags under his eyes. Justin was exhausted with life. She took a step forward and placed her hand on his shoulder, comfortably.

Justin snapped his head to her and pulled his arm away from her, walking away from the group trying to calm himself.

In the meantime, Jace picked up the object Clary threw and walked away from the conversation to track Magnus.
