Yellow

3:30 was the time
Time to leave for the sky
Had turned its back and grew in fear
As the yellow tint drew near and near

We thought of sunflowers
And lemons drops
Bright summer rays
And tall maize crops

But this was different,
This pale yellow
Screaming, shrieking
So deep and mellow

The murky water
Had drowned us well
Climbed on tall trees
Until they fell

Some would just lie
And wait for death
Stare at the sky
To await their last breath

Somehow, someway
Yellow was not delightful
Today was different
And most definitely frightful
