Brandon

I went back into the kitchen. "Justine, I'm getting ready to leave. I need to go to my apartment in the City. I have to change my clothes, and start looking at this deal between my father and yours. I'm going to come back tonight, and stay in my mom's guest house."

"No problem Corwin, you don't answer to me. I'll see you when you get back." She answered me nonchalantly. She didn't show her true feelings. It was as if she didn't care.

"Okay, then, I'll see you for dinner. I will need to call you to testify in this case. You told me that this deal never went through, before my father died. I'm happy your father told you that important fact." I put her on notice.

"My brothers don't owe Mr. McKay anything. But your testimony is key." I rubbed my hands over my unshaven face.

"Here we go again. . . . Now I'm back in the hot seat, just when I thought I was finally free." Justine lamented, and began to twist a lock of her auburn hair.

"Unfortunately, you are our only witness. Your father told you this information, directly." I informed her.

"I'm sure the paperwork will confirm this. Your testimony, along with what I find—will close this case. You will definitely need to stay here at my mother's house. I don't need you going off galavanting in the Bronx." I advised her.

I'm happy that now she can't run. I'm surprisingly, happier by that thought than I would like to admit.

I gave her a thumbs up. "You can do this Justine, I'll prepare you for the case."

"We'll be spending a lot of time together. It looks like you are stuck with me, again. Have a nice day." I waved with my back to her, as I walked toward the door, whistling.

I got her good this time and I know she is furious. But this time, I could care less.

I smiled all the way to my car. The feisty Justine McKay, has finally met her match.

Justine

Ooooh, that Brandon Corwin gets me so riled up. He thinks he's so smart.

"Auntie Justine, I'm so happy you're here. Do you wanna play dolls, with me after breakfast?" Liliana, burst into the kitchen. She covered her mouth and giggled. My heart melted.

Maybe this life is not so bad after all. . . especially, when it includes a certain handsome attorney.

"There you are Justine. I knew by hearing my granddaughter giggling, that you were in here. I was thinking it would be nice to go shopping after lunch. We can get you a few new outfits." Mrs. Corwin, grabbed a cup out of the cabinet.

"I don't have money and I don't want you going out of your way, Mrs. Corwin." I didn't want to feel like a freeloader.

"My dear, I want to take you shopping. Brandon insisted on paying for anything, you need." She got my attention, with that news flash.

"He does not spend money on any young ladies, besides Liliana. So believe me, we need to go shopping, today." Mrs. Corwin took a sip of coffee, with a calculated grin.

"Auntie Justine, do you like my uncle Brandon? I think you two should get married. He broke up, with his other girlfriend." Liliana, the matchmaker, came up with that out of nowhere.

I don't think the girlfriend part was supposed to be mentioned.

Hmmm, so he did have have a girlfriend. I should've expected that, as handsome as he is.
