Chapter 37

Atsuko's POV

"Tomorrow's a Sunday so you can sleep in if you want. It's been a hectic day for you I'm sure." Aunt Klarrissa says as she kisses me on the forehead.

"Cailen will be punished later for his actions. I'll see to it." Uncle Javier growls as his eyes darken. I grab the sleeve of his shirt.

"Please don't. Nobody was hurt so everything is fine, right?"

His expression softens. "I'm sorry, Atsuko but he broke the rules and laid his hands on another wolf's mate. He will be punished but I'll see what I can do."

"We'll talk about this later in the morning. You need to rest." Aunt Klarrissa says while hugging me. Uncle Javier did the same too.

"I don't know if I have said this yet but welcome to the family, Atsuko." Uncle Javier says with a huge smile on his face. I hug him back and he gladly accepted it. Once they left my bedroom, I waited until I heard them enter theirs and locked my door. All settings are up and I made my way out through the window to Dragon Forest. I will not fail this time and I've accumulated enough power to take Jake down now.

After arriving at the headquarters, Rhett and the others' expressions are gloomier than usual.

"What's wrong?" I asked taking a look at one of the many monitor screens. Rhett shut it off before I could take a look.

"He's at it again. We just lost five more." He growls. F-Five more members lost. Jake is catching up on us fast.

"Jake must have obtained the information he absorbed from them. Sooner or later we will be exposed." Rhett says and from his voice he sounds tired. There weren't any possessions after I removed Jake from Rhett but he has been having nightmares. The darkness is still there implanted on him but I couldn't remove it completely. The only way to do it is to exterminate the source and that would be Jake himself.

"I'll handle the extermination and I'll do it tonight, alone," I say as the others whip their heads directly at me like I just said something completely crazy which in fact is.

"Your pack is out on patrol and so is Jake, so your plan is completely out of the question."

"It would be better than having any more of our people killed and Jake is after me so it'll be easy to lure him somewhere isolated. Jake must be eliminated tonight!" I retorted. The others didn't have anything else to say but to keep quiet. I know they worry about my safety and I worry for theirs. Dragon Forest is slowly being spread thin.

"And what would you do if you were caught by Jake?" Lucas says as he approaches me from behind.

"I've said this before, Lucas, don't underestimate our powers."

"Yeah and don't underestimate Jake. He's absorbed more than enough power. Who knows what he'll do to you."
