A/N: Sorry! I had a major writers block and also a bunch of finals that aren't over yet. The end is coming soon. I mean for this book, not the world. :0

"Tell me again how this works?" I asked uncertain if I really wanted to know.
"It's easy." he said and flipped over the quarter he's been playing with. I somehow managaed to follow Derek around town for hours straight and we ended up going to a local coffee shop. He was sitting across from me with a glass of water in his hands. Apparently, coffee would make him go crazy. "All you have to do is trust me." he said this while leaning close to me which made my stomach whirl.
"That's gonna be a problem." I said jokingly. "Seems as if trusting you is a bad decision."
He gave me look. The one he'd always gave me when I said something stupid.
"You know it's true." I added and sipped on my cold coffee. It tasted horrible, I don't know how humans enjoy this, but I won't tell Derek that, I made him spend his money on buying me this even thought he warned me I wouldn't like it.
"Yeah. Whatever." he said and slumped further into his hood. "Are you in or not?"
"For the prank? Sure." I said. I really didn't want to prank the homecoming dance. Yes, it was all a silly gathering the humans wasted their time on. Yes, I could get back at the homecoming king and queen. And yes, it would be very fun. But I've developed a sense of awareness for others feelings and this seems pretty important to them. However, my devious side beats all.
"Should we go for the classic dump the bucket of water on their heads?" he asked. I noticed a scratch in his neck that I hadn't seen in the forest earlier.
"No, no." I said clearing my throat. "Come on, we used to be evil." I said. Then we both looked down. At least one of us is still very evil.
He tapped on his glass of water annoyingly. I was about to shout at him but I stopped myself once I saw how calm he looked. Watching the water make tiny ripples in the glass. He's always on edge, like he's afraid. And he has reason to be too. I mean, he's next to me. The cold blooded killer.
"David wanted it." he muttered.
"What?"
"To be Alpha." Derek cleared up.
"I know."
"But he's so dumb. You know why? He overestimated his father. He was never handing over the tittle. He's rather kill his own son. And he won't need to hand it over after he-" he stopped abruptly and looked up at me. I saw the slash on his neck a bit clearer. It was about a day or so old.
"Why?" I asked now interested in Trevor's plan.
He looked like he was on the verge of crying. Like he would break down at any moment. I steadily put down the cup of the cold coffee and slowly walked over to his side of the table. It took everything in me to put my arms around him. He buried his face deep into the shirt but I didn't feel any tears. He just kept his head there and I even felt tempted to stroke his head, careful not to pull down his hood. He's always self cautious about it. It was a shame, I loved to see his hair.
"After he destroys my life." he simply said and pulled away from me. He put on a smile as an attempt to reassure me but it was clearly fake. His dark baggy eyes reflected pure pain and I deeper I looked I didn't see his wolf. it was as if his wolf was hidden so far that he was invisible.
"Why would he do tha-" I started to say.
"Look there's Vanessa!" he said and pulled me out of the cafe. Leaving my shit drink behind.
