Chapter 9-Birthday Scare

"We're going to do what!?" I worriedly yelled at Ryder.

"You heard me! we're going to skip school. You can't celebrate in school now can you?" he said like skipping school was nothing.

"Celebrating? I said I don't celebrate such a depressing day like this!" I argued. I got into big trouble yesterday with Alpha John. Apparently getting into trouble is not acceptable. He promised my father that he'd raise me to be a wonderful and productive young woman. And I am, I just have my own way of showing it.

"Jaime! How many times must I tell you! Birthdays are happy fun times." he said grinning. "Anyways you'd better meet me by the office before first period."

"Or what?" I said with a smirk.

"You'll find out." Ryder said before walking off. Weird child he is.

I don't care what he said. I can't get into anymore trouble, Alpha John might double my training hours and that much worse than cleaning the downstairs gym. I wonder if it was a panic attack after all. Just said any random thing that came off the top of my head to calm down Vanessa. She was hyperventilating and would soon pass out. I should become a doctor, I helped Vanessa from passing out and slipping into coma.

I made my way over to the lunchroom for breakfast. I never come in early enough for breakfast but Brewyn made me wake up early so he could go handle some business. I'll just take advantage of that and see what type of trash they serve in the mornings.

The scent of sunlight washed over me. Oh crap! I have to hide. First period starts in seven minutes. Ryder is going to kidnap me for all I know. I ducked behind the trash can.

"if you wanted to eat trash, you don't have to go inside the rubbish can. Just wait on line like the humans, you little rat." I heard an annoying voice followed by a woodsy odor. I didn't even have to look up.

"Get away from me, you Neanderthal!" I whisper-yelled at him.

"that would be too simple, wouldn't it?"

I grunted and moved around as the sunlight smell faded away, I was now stuck with an overwhelming wood odor.

"What do you want from me?" I blurted out.

"you know what I want."

"Well, you're not getting it do just walk away and go to your master."

"I'm my own master."

I couldn't help but laughing loudly to that. "Oh yeah? Then why do you follow David around like a lost puppy."

"When David is alpha, I'll be his beta. Granting me more power then an average wolf." he said. I rolled my eyes, men and their need for power.
"Way more power than just a mutt like you."

First period starts in two minutes. I need to get to class without passing Ryder and this asshole is holding me back. I'll either get a late, and get in trouble. Or I'll skip, and get in trouble. It doesn't matter what I choose, I'll be in trouble anyways.

I chose the path that would leave me enjoying my birthday. Regardless I now have to make it to the main office in two minutes.

"listen, Derek. I'll give you a chew toy if you let me go."

Derek pinned me against the trash can. The disgusting decay filled can. "let me go, bastard!"

"Only if you chew on the toy first." he said with a smirk. He eyed my body and I squirmed uncomfortably. "Your heart is beating wildly, darling." he said before letting me go. I hit the ground and stared at him with a murderous look.
